Love to see Finland getting some of the international attention it rightly deserves in this thread. It's one of my favourite places I've visited, 10/10 experience even the salmiakki.

Even in the independence day celebration arranged by our president, like in this example. 2/

"When adult southern sea otters (E. l. nereis) living along the California coast began dying off from infectious diseases, researchers found that polluted water compromised immunity in adults, and that those with high concentrations of PFAS had a greater chance of contracting deadly diseases." 🦦
‘Forever chemical’ contamination could undermine sea otters’ fragile recovery in Canada
Sea otters living along the coastline of Canada’s British Columbia province carry residues of “forever chemicals” in their bodies, according to a new study,  and those living near dense human populati...

"Prime Minister Carney — who as UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance described climate change as the world’s greatest existential threat— is juggling climate and economic priorities, with climate taking a back seat, despite the fact they are interdependent."
As COP30 wraps up, the Carney government does not appear to be prioritizing climate action

Weddell seal pups can be curious if you’re sitting next to them quietly. Here, we were collecting a scat sample and the little one leaned a bit closer to see what I was doing.

Feeling so cheated when it's raining and just a degree or two shy of freezing so we ALMOST have snow. You're telling me my toes are numb and I don't even get rewarded for it

This was such a relatable article. So many spaces online where I once found it easy to connect with friends and family are now so filled with AI slop, sponsored content, and misinformation they've become nearly unusable.

#COP30 - CAPE Closing Statement at #COP30

1/ COP30 ended on a massively disappointing note: no explicit reference to fossil fuels in the almost final text, and no clarity on how to move away from them. Canada is backsliding while health impacts worsen. #ClimateHealth #FossilFree

After two weeks of #COP30 negotiations, countries agreed to BEGIN DISCUSSIONS on fossil fuel phase out. And as the article says, "they achieved this incremental progress only in the teeth of implacable opposition from oil-producing countries."

THIS is the problem with requiring unanimous decisions.
