Happy birthday to me.
In the past year, my fundraiser has saved lives and provided transportation and medical help for pups in need. Some day when I retire, I'll start my own dog rescue. Until then, I'll do what I can this way.
Please help, and thank you kindly ❤️🎂🐶

Rest in grace, Jimmy Cliff. The terribly sad news this morning from Jamaica of his death. A musician for the ages and a spirit of brightness.

On this date in 1765, the Stamp Act was rejected by judges in the Frederick County Court House in Frederick, Maryland, the first time that had happened in the American colonies. The day is celebrated in Frederick as Repudiation Day.

Current status: weepy over the episode that ends with the fall of Charleston. Magnificently chosen quotations; evocatively filmed moments of mud, rain, and ceaseless cannon firing.
Thanks @wmhtpubmedia.bsky.social for showing The American Revolution this cold gray afternoon—and happy to donate.

Alas, the US penny is no more.
The final one-cent coin was minted last week.
To mark the passing of the lowly yet beloved penny, what better piece of music than Beethoven's Rondo a capriccio in G major, Op. 129?
Or, as dubbed by Beethoven's publisher, "Rage Over a Lost Penny"

It would be an insult to pigs to call these "men" pigs. Larry Summers, holy hell. @harvard.edu fire him and give every dime of filthy Epstein money to these "men's" victims and their families.
Also, Dershowitz. Dear Christ so shameful.

Such a well behaved good dog. He snapped at someone who came into his house and startled him awake. Totally normal dog behavior. I cannot believe they dumped him back at the ACC to endure a DOH hold and now a kill command.

I love association copies of rare books, and this one's a doozy: Thomas Boyd's 1923 novel "Through The Wheat," which F. Scott Fitzgerald helped him get published by @scribnerbooks.bsky.social —and a copy of which Scott gave to his mother.
