I wrote a new article about the glitched Jolteon that I had on my Yellow version, two decades ago, and how I replicated and got to the bottom of it: www.dragonflycave.com/kanto/my-gli...
My Glitched Jolteon
Part reminiscence, part game mechanics deep dive, about a harmlessly strange Jolteon deleted in 2003 and the effort to uncover what was going on with him two decades later.

www.dragonflycave.com/update/12-09... TCoD's URLs are now a bit nicer and more consistent, and I accidentally rewrote a couple of guides (most importantly, the reviewing guide).
12/09/25: URLs and Guide Rewrites
Another kind of technical upgrade: something that has been bugging me for a little while now is that the site's URLs since I rewrote the backend...

Maybe I should resurrect the rant thing on TCoD to do a bit about how people are too quick to call things glitches. The ones that have survived the various purges until now are really old and quaint and not very well written (I may go and rewrite them), but I have plenty of other Pokémon opinions.

Something really bugs me about how people talk about the 1/256 miss chance from R/B/Y. People will go on about it being a glitch or a programming error and how they didn’t realize 100% accurate moves actually had a chance of missing…

Have been musing on the evolution of forum spam recently. For the past couple years I've been getting a lot of AI-written posts writing something shallow on the topic of the thread and then pivoting to, like, "This reminds me of playing [link to some random online game]!"

Thinking about "the Pokemon discourse" again and how the idea that "Pokemon makes a lot of money so it needs to be more AAA" remains an indescribably dumb idea.

TCoD still has a Twitter account, but it’s become very noticeable that basically all the engagement is over here now. Increasingly tempted to just finally ditch Twitter, given all the everything.

Charizard is my favorite Pokémon since my first game, Yellow. On that game, I was training my team to level 100 when, at level 96 or so, my cousin restarted the game and saved. Charizard never made it to the finish line.

Successfully completed all main missions, side missions, and the Pokédex in Legends: Z-A. Maternity leave is good for playing video games, it turns out. (But also, they just did a good job with this game and making it stay engaging to play.)

Absolutely dying at the Pokémon Legends: Z-A kid at the school who asserts she can recite every name she's ever heard and it'll take six minutes, and if you still maintain you want to hear it it just plays the game's credits

Pokémon Legends: Z-A NPC dialogue is sometimes oddly deep and sometimes absolutely unhinged and I love it for it.

My favorite thing about Z-A so far is the return of our Pokémon helping us get around in the world. That's what I always missed a little about HMs, much as I understand how they used to frustrate people.

So far, Z-A has contained a Scyther and a Charizard. I approve
