Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

Yup. It won’t do that. It won’t even write essays well lol

Ooh can’t wait to refer to this paper when I am teaching students about problems of AI and the unfortunate popularity of horrid techo-fixations among the capitalist elite
and all of the arguments we made 5 yrs ago in this paper about why the idea of robot rights relies on faulty assumptions about the nature of human cognition and intelligence still hold

Let’s hope they chicken out as they have done when confronted with basically any real resistance
Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout

Scientists: Humanity has missed 1.5C climate target

Politicians after 30 COP meetings:

We have the beginning of a concept of a plan to begin discussing phasing out of fossil fuels eventually, maybe, someday

I make this bad joke every year but it still holds: ACAB means that All Cops Are Bastards and that includes this COP

Climate COP is as much a tool enabling elite inaction as it is helping humanity address climate crisis

In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

Twitter now displays where accounts are from and it has confirmed that too many of the political accounts are out of country bots.

Why are folks still there? To argue with bots? A waste of precious time while enriching the richest man on Earth.

Delete your account.

Again I’m so glad I escaped twitter, but also: good reminder that one of the problems is being exposed to an untrue representation of “what Americans think” (ie they aren’t as Nazi/idiotic/Trumpian as you might think from being on X)
November 23, 2025 at 3:57 PM
I had a similar experience/reaction: first, hella mad at Google for linking their AI BS to actually useful features like priority inboxes…but after I turned it all off, I’m now getting a lot of un-subscribing done and getting better at just erasing many emails rather than let them bog my life down!
Gonna be honest, kinda like that gmail just dumps every email in one pile after turning the gemini shit off, makes ut much easier to delete the marketing stuff as it comes in

Humans will NEVER colonize another planet. Never.

If we can’t even agree to do the minimum to keep Earth habitable, there’s no way in hell we’ll cooperate to make another planet habitable.

Let’s not overestimate the popularity of Nazis like Fuentes
With Nick Fuentes in the news (again…) I am going to reshare our latest research piece, which checked claims that his audience is growing against data we have.

It’s not clear that’s actually true, yet right-wing figures keep trying to make excuses for his audience.

How many times do we have to say fuck @nytimes.com and its consistently pro-genocide, pro-cop, “we love fascists more than leftists” coverage
This piece makes it sound totally normal that the police gets to decide whether or not to "work with" Mamdani as mayor, and it continues, as nearly all the paper's coverage, to wield normative terms like "moderate" and left" in a prejudicial way. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/16/n...

Oh great a feel good story about one person the state managed NOT to murder by way of prison!

Wouldn’t it be nice if NPR had ever taken prison abolitionist politics seriously?

Is someone going to humanitarian intervention us yet?
Last week at the United Nations in Geneva, the US boycotted its human rights review that all U.N. member states participate in every 4.5 years. By evading its U.N. human rights review, America ignores what the world sees clearly: Texans suffering under abortion bans.

Fully agree: not that I’m undisturbed by the authoritarian turn in politics, but this turn is made so much more frightfully worrisome by increasingly widespread ignorance & ill-informed political views, which are themselves artifacts of an already toxic media ecosystem getting worse
In a way, I find the authoritarian takeover of our media system even more disturbing than the authoritarian takeover of our political system.

Our political system has been failing basically my entire adult life. But, the media system provided accountability and sort of worked. Now it’s collapsing.

They won’t even let us have Teen Vogue!!!
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.
