London. I make The Lost Cat Podcast, I make music, I make movies, I post a lot of nerdy shit about these sorts of things. All typos are to prove I am not AI. thank you. apclarke.studio

Wait til Christmas?

I don't really mind about Christmas movies, I don't think there's a lot to spoil.

Kids, do not play Tubi Roulette.

We did, and got shot in the head first round.

Then we went back for another round.

It was a painful night.

Kids, do not play Tubi Roulette.

Movies can be good. Movies can be good.

It's OK to watch good movies.

Bizarrely, I watched this movie just tonight.

Very strange, to immediately see it again as soon as I open my browser. Even... eerie...

(etc)

I honestly think the years (decades?) of Serious Critique of Problematic Media has left people a little unable to cope with the very normal and human reaction "i think this just sucks aesthetically/stylistically"

If something is Ethically Wrong, you're just being a Good Person for disliking it!

... and is immediately arrested for murder as, in 2026, the only people with human rights are AI bots?

I thought your editorial in the Fango newsletter this week, @philnobilejr.bsky.social, was particularly lovely.

They're always great, and I particularly like it when you are being Very Polite about some aspects of the horror crowd, but this one made my heart grow two sizes.

WOOF FULL PROUST.

Yep, I had the little one, but I think I played him as an Optimus Prime goodie I guess just coz he looked cool.

Anyways: thank you.

Argh! I'm getting painful nostalgia flashbacks - what is Movie-Arcee on?

Anything to shorten the games, I guess?

"Aw yeah - a new Peter Jackson? I'm in!"

The revolution will not be on social media.

Which is to say: the kids who turn against the poisons of this current moment will not posting their adventures on the carriers of these poisons.

They will, in effect, be invisible to us. This is a shame, as i'd like to know, but still: godspeed to them

The signal here for me is 700 bucks for Godot. This is like cabaret seating for a GG Allin show.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

How on earth do you hum The Four Horsemen?

If you manage it, frankly, all the prizes of heaven should be yours.

"The Fly is less a horror movie than a drama about living life authentically."

When people complain that HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH "isn't really part of the franchise", and all you can think is that this is precisely why it is good.

But I have these movies now, and they are WILD. The Seventh Curse lifts heavily from Indiana Jones and it makes the controversy of Temple Of Doom's racism feel as quaint as my childhood choice of fancy food. This thing is ALL the isms, at 100 miles an hour.

Wotta movie.

Now, most likely, little-me-in-the-80s would have found this stuff too chaotic, and possibly a little upsetting.

Elm Street might have been just about right for a kid who, when faced with a choice of world foods, would have gone for McDonalds every time.

This director, Lam Nai-Choi, did this, The Cat, Riki Oh. The Shaws were making things like The Boxers Omen. There's an entire genre of it. It makes little-me getting excited about the latest Elm Street look pretty dull and safe.

Now I am finally watching all these 80s kung fu/horror/sfx movies, a part of me is sad I never had access to them as a kid. Possibly no-one in the west did (research needed as to if they played the cooler fleapits).

I missed out on the good stuff. Denied a proper education!
