Very meaningful (😜) session! We looked at the senses of nihilism (ie, meaning/value/knowledge) & how might connect with science, also consequences of aiming for objective understanding of world. Explored, if not god/religion, what might make a meaningful/worthwhile life via evolution and the sacred
#PHILOSOPHY PLAYTIME! This week we play with the idea ‘Does objectivity/scientificism [sic] necessarily lead to nihilism?’

18.30-20.00, Wednesday 26 Nov at EH9|Espresso, Perth Rd, #Dundee
£6 cash on door, complimentary (decaf) coffee

The city’s cultural and community future are at risk again as Dundee City Council propose a second year of rapid public consultation.

With residents already strongly opposing cuts in 2024, we call for more meaningful decision making and long-term ambition from Councillors and officials.

Still keeping up the writing, still doing well
I’m trying to write a thing for a thing. I’ll probably miss the deadline at the end of the month. But regardless it has got me back into the habit of writing, nearly every day. And I’d forgotten, no matter how chronic my ills, how well the opportunity to write makes me.

Unusual Session! We separately answered NO! from very start & agreed salient qualities that confer moral status circumvent ‘conscious.’ Then played with moral agents cp. patients, oddity of moral considerations by humans, via beauty norms, animal testing, vegetative states, economic diversification.
#PHILOSOPHY PLAYTIME! This week we play with the idea ‘should we reserve moral patienthood* for things proven conscious?’

*appropriate objects of moral concern
