In terms of what’s understood to be socially acceptable behavior, normalizing the filming/taking pictures of people in public who are minding their own business (and putting it online) is one of the worst developments of the past 15 years.

Great piece of reading advice in here
One thing I've noticed - too many people don't acknowledge the need to re-read sentences trying different cadences until it clicks - they believe that reading means you just barrel through one time and if the sentence didn't make sense the first time you just process it as a "word salad."

Are there any productive functions left in American society that aren’t run by people who despise and intend to disrupt or tear down the things they are ostensibly responsible for?
There’s just nothing left of a university’s mission if instructors can be disciplined and fired for teaching the current state of knowledge in their fields, the degrees they issue are worth precisely the value of the paper they’re printed on and not a jot more

Given the cost of living, I don't really think a $25k grant makes a dent in what most city employees need to buy a home. This program only benefits the three people who could afford to buy anyway.
