About half of people with depression still have symptoms even after trying more than one medication.

This is called difficult-to-treat depression.

It affects daily life, relationships, and long-term recovery.

Increasingly older people are feeling lonely. Palliative researchers at ARC South London are investigating the relationship between breathlessness and loneliness in older people to inform interventions to help reduce loneliness.

👉 arc-sl.nihr.ac.uk/research-and...
On the left side, a logo reads: NIHR | Applied Research Collaboration South London

Below it, a large red quotation mark introduces a quote in white text on a dark blue background: "People with breathlessness are more likely to experience depression, loss of mobility and increasing isolation in their communities – and about 1 in 5 report loneliness."

Dr Lisa Jane Brighton, lecturer in applied health research, King's College London

On the right side of the image, an older man sitting on a bed faces away from the viewer towards a ground-floor window. Curtains are drawn halfway across. The image suggests loneliness and isolation
