In the end, it's just a transposition of my favorite cartoon (by Tom Toro, in The New Yorker, 2012) into reality. They've just replaced environmental destruction with the concealment of pedophilia.

In any case, it's always the children who pay the price. It's always the same tragic story.

Anyone watching High Potential? Season one was so good… season two feels like a completely different show. This is gonna sound like a hackneyed observation, but for fuck’s sake, is it being written by AI? It’s like a bad imitation of the first season.

I really wish our world looked more like Star Trek and less like Dungeon Crawler Carl.

What's so amazing about Jim Henson as a puppeteer is that he could literally be explaining that Kermit is made out of felt and ping pong balls and yet Kermit still feels alive the whole time he's doing it

I have been on an emotional rollercoaster today. Nothing specific. Just lots of ups and downs. Mostly ups. Some really fucking good ups. But also some loops and spins. Just a fucking rollercoaster.

It is so infuriating that the solution is right in front of us. It’s real, it’s actionable, and it’s the path forward to the future we were all promised. For fuck’s sake, this is how we get to the Star Trek timeline, and we could do it without a third world war if not for the billionaire scumbags.
Gee, Universal Basic Income recoups more than it costs AND the recipients are happier and healthier.

Hmmm. Where have I seen those results before? Oh yes, in every other goddam pilot study of UBI for more than a decade. Ireland joins Finland in at least making a start.
Ireland’s basic income for the arts scheme becomes permanent
When piloted, initiative that provided €325 a week to eligible artists recouped more than its net cost, study shows

Why is it always “Millennials splurging on expensive chicken” and never “Boomers exploiting younger generations by overcharging for basic necessities” huh?

Why is it that when the stock market has a good day it doesn’t affect us in the least, yet we’re told that if it crashes it will take us with it? Seems kind of like it’s not built for us, huh?

I must be doing something right because my 6 year old would rather pretend to do “research” on the “laptop” she made with her friend on a piece of folded paper than use her ACTUAL iPad to watch videos or play games.

This is a fucking recipe for disaster. I worked in tech for over a decade, and even with seasoned engineers, building reliable products was a challenge. Having laymen “dabble” in code because AI wrote it for them is not going to end well. And those engineers are going to burn out and hate life.

This is starting to get like universal basic income where every single objective study shows the same result but the people who don't like that result go "uh, well there's just really no way to know"
