And they are the same people who just vote straight-party or straight-ticket (I think it’s ineffective)
Indiana just erased the Board of Interpreter Standards (BIS) from law through HB1474. Deaf-led oversight is gone. Interpreter standards now rest in agency hands—with no guaranteed community input. This weakens our access and our rights.
“The Crip Camp” on Netflix is a good documentary about disability rights!
“Let the shameful wall of exclusion finally come tumbling down.”
– President George H.W. Bush, signing the Americans with Disabilities Act, July 26, 1990.

The shameful wall of exclusion was supposed to fall.
But today, piece by piece, it’s quietly being rebuilt.
I support diverse access tools. My concern is when “choice” is shaped by a system that still centers oralism and medical views. That legacy of eugenics hasn’t disappeared—it still influences what’s offered, funded, or seen as “success.”
Eugenics dominated deaf world since 1880, they are still do same thing with deafness with medical views and sadness, all of that. Oralism, Cochlear Implants are widely accepted today. Let’s fight eugenics and ignorance together!
Apparently some Deaf people refuse to see the common between RFK jr and AGBell 😡
Before oralism (1880), ASL helped Deaf kids thrive. A.G. Bell ignored the evidence and pushed assimilation. Today (2025), autism studies face similar dismissal. Different era, same playbook—fear over truth. #DeafHistoryMonth #AutismAcceptance @autisticadvocacy.org
I’m Deaf and no kids! But I can talk with you!

I need you to look at the text of RFK's remarks last night beside a description of the 1941 German film "I Accuse" and understand how calculated this is.
RFK:
Indiana’s AG office confirmed the state’s role in a lawsuit involving Section 504. While states say they aren’t asking to overturn the law, courts can still rule beyond that—like in King v. Burwell. Legal outcomes may affect how Section 504 is interpreted.
He brought a gun to a peaceful protest in Lafayette, IN.
Police said it was fine because “he didn’t point it.”
Apparently the Second Amendment matters more than the First—if you’re MAGA.

Early intervention for deaf children is being handed over to state agencies.
Legislation is backed by LillyPAC.
“Deaf Specialist” is being defined by people who favor LSL—not Deaf culture.

This isn’t progress.
This is erasure.

This is what Indiana is doing to the Deaf community.

Say no to SB473

I need the press to stop saying, "This isn’t what people voted for."

No.

It IS exactly what they voted for.

They just didn't vote for it to happen to THEMSELVES.

They were okay if it was going to happen to "THOSE people."

And THAT is the problem.
Worse part is that public schools that teach ASL uses the test score system ran by hearing people
Indiana GOP policies on Deaf education benefit who?

Hear Indiana, AGBell-afflicted.

Their goal? Deaf Cultural erasure and assimilation.

GOP Party or Deaf Identity—you can’t choose both.
Eugenics never stops adjusting to the system. #stopeugenics #deafsky
They made the world so inaccessible that people with disabilities stopped participating. Now, the DOJ is using that as an excuse to remove ADA guidance.

Create barriers → fewer disabled people engage → claim accessibility is unnecessary. This is how rights get eroded.

#ADA #DisabilityRights
The important thing to understand about the ADA is it doesn't enumerate accommodations within the law. It just refers people to the guidance created by the Access Board. So removing the guidance is a workaround that hollows out the law without repeal.
