Jack Smith’s testimony on the proof that Donald Trump was responsible for January 6

“[Trump] created a level of distrust. He made false statements to..his supporters..and was aware..[they] were angry..then he directed them to the Capitol. Now..once the attack..happened, he refused to stop it”

Five years ago today, Donald Trump incited a violent mob to attack the Capitol in a last-ditch effort to cling to power after losing a free and fair election. January 6 was not a protest that got out of hand — it was an attempted coup, carried out in plain sight.

Truth is truth. Lies are lies. The US has always had a sizable under- & mis-informed populace and self-serving, lying politicians. We did not have "leaders" knowingly spread highly provable lies to manipulate "low information" voters in such a brazen & cynical way, at such a scale. Thanks internet.
trump did january 6th. republicans did january 6th. violent traitors did january 6th. they stormed the capitol, destroyed the building and threatened to kill members of congress. ashli babbitt was a violent insurrectionist. the capitol police protected people. these are truths we need to repeat.

This is awesome. Print is such a good way to get around a bunch of distribution (and surveillance!) mechanisms that seem otherwise mandatory in this very gross economy. It is really nice to see it spelled out like this.

It works great for us, and it'll work great for other places!
404 Media is making a print zine! About the surveillance technologies used by ICE. 16 pages, riso printed. Shipping early January. Features reworked versions of our best reporting and a few new things. We're very excited! And hope to do more if people like it:

Will Arnett was on Conan and told a story about how Conan dealt with the death of his parents by accusing Jason Bateman of killing them. It’s so funny.

Alt: a woman in a black jacket is walking down a hallway in a room, wearing a chic outfit, including a pair of thigh high Chanel boots. Two women — one with red hair and one with blonde hair — stare at her in surprise. It’s a scene from the movie “the devil wears Prada,” in which Andie gets a makeover and wears “the Chanel boots” for the first time

Can we stop calling these atrocities "deportations." These people sold to El Salvadorian prisons were not deported. Deportation is a process that did not take place. They were rounded up and removed with no process. They were kidnapped, not deported.

About 250M years ago, 90% of species on Earth died during the Permian extinction. All of that loss created a lot of vacant niches to fill.

Not long after, the first mammals, our ancestors, appeared.
