The sitting room of the farm I grew up on, in the last few days we were there (February 1998). It's a shock now to see how worn the carpet is, and the house in itself was very basic, being Victorian; there was no central heating and we still had bakelite switches.

A view little changed even still!
The lock, after which this part of Maidstone took the name Lockmeadow, has long gone, though. Here’s my photo, taken three or four years ago, from as close to where Albert Goodwin painted his scene as I could get:

One from a wander down to the disused Mangersta Radio Station on the edge of the Atlantic. It was blowing a gale and difficult to stand but there was some beautiful light. This is probably connected to the other buildings but stands alone atop a nearby headland posing questions.

Stoked to be able to get hold of 'Neo-Myths of Ynys Mon' by Paul Wakelam - a fascinating set of imagined echoes that Paul thinks of as 'neo-myths' - set alongside some truly beautiful photography of the area.

A huge Plenty Wenlock recommend, message to order at:

Is it #StandingStoneSunday already?! 😮🥳

Take a spin around the incredible Harold Stone standing stone on Skomer Island, Pembrokeshire

In 2024, following path erosion, we discovered a rare Bronze Age cobbled platform around it.
