Definitely don't switch baking powder with baking soda and use to the type of sugar they say though. Brown sugar, white sugar and powdered sugar are 3 very different things. Also I always use salted butter no matter the recipe. Unsalted butter is yack.
Baking is basic chemistry. So you need to be very precise.
If they say 1/8th a cup, that doesn’t mean get the 1/4 cup scoop and just eyeball the equivalent.

Nah I have recipes I add and subtract from all the time because I know what consistency and taste I want. Like I have a banana bread that I switch out the regular milk for evaporated, change the lemon juice to vinegar (fake buttermilk) and cut the sugar by a 1/3 because I use ancient bananas.
