but afterwards you have a thing you can hold in your hands and then eat, and that is the work that keeps the horrors at bay.

15lbs of apples! We’re doing Christmas spiced crab apple jelly, and apple and rosemary jelly, and stewing as many as we can, and making apple-scrap vinegar and YES I DO HAVE A PROBLEM.

Mystery solved! It’s a slime mould, and the common name is DOG SICK FUNGUS

good morning! I need some help identifying something I saw in the field. Maybe it is a fungus that grows around grass? Maybe it is something completely different? Any hints please let me know.
A white and semi solid grainy mass, which seems to be clinging to or growing up grass
A second picture of the mass from slightly further away

This is such a good point. I can't afford £100 for a covid booster. I could and would cheerfully pay £15 for one as I do flu. I also don't understand why so many aren't eligible for an NHS booster this year considering it didn't miraculously stop being covid over the summer

This makes me want to break things. If it's such a no-big (it actually is a big that fucking disabled me), and you're equating it to flu (again, not remotely like), then why aren't the prices comparable?

(They should be free but given that's not going to happen, well)

It’s dispiriting that this is what getting a COVID vaccination now looks like to this chronic asthmatic.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

I am so delighted to know you on here, you are so kind and fascinating, and your brain makes great shapes. I hope softness and rest and whatever you need make their way to you abundantly.

LOVE a crunchie, a supreme experience - I've never made honeycomb, but I might try soon, it seems like the time of year for it.
