I struggle to write from the perspective of characters who are very straightforward or lack in-depth introspection, because it's in my own nature to over-intellectualize everything that is going on in my own head. Even when I try to write someone with simple motives I end up doing too much lmaooo

Awful, awful ppl and things. For an au, there's a gang and police and stuff. There's classism,xenophobia, some racism, substance abuse, etc. I want to really grasp these issues head on, but I don't know if I'll be able to.

i am so bad at writing pov for sub bottoms who aren't kind of bratty lmao. most everything else i can manage! but i am simply not built to write perfect little sub bottoms. i crank out like one every 2 years and have to take a nap after.

Evil Chars... I want to write them so bad and be all cold and uncaring but I can't 😭I feel guilty and just wanna console the victim. It's even harder in roleplay cause I'm easily moved by words.

Yeosang!” Wooyoung wails. "Where's Yeosang!?”

“Yeosang? He-" Seonghwa draws a blank. They're stunned, just for a second but it's long enough for steel-cold horror to press against their ribs.

They have no idea where Yeosang is.

The thought is so unreal to Seonghwa. It doesn't feel like their own. It can’t be. They look over their shoulder to check if anyone's using compulsion them because that is infinitely more believable than Yeosang—their Yeosang, the one who clings to their sides like a lost duckling, being missing.

guess who forgot about #wipwednesday -- here, have some to bite with as an apology (the woohwa! it lives!)

The star charts visible behind Seonghwa are comforting. At least half a dozen are partially-visible up until the periphery, with notes scribbled in the off-white margins and sticky notes pinned in place along the corners. Color-coded, always, and cleanly labeled. Familiar and secure.

Wooyoung clearly agrees, shoulders dropping closer to a normal level as soon as the camera flips on. "Hi, jagiya."

He gets a hum in response, Seonghwa's brow pinching a bit as he sets his phone against something on the table. "Can you hold the phone out further? I can only see half of either of you."

Hongjoong and Wooyoung glance at each other before — "We both have short arms."

Yunho snorts where he's crouched over his backpack, moving too late to stifle the sound behind his hand. It's another laugh to add to the list, abrupt and blatantly humored, and Hongjoong is grateful for his bracelet all over again.

snippet of a topaz au: Hongjoong pressed his gun firmly against Wooyoung’s temple. Then, slowly, he moved his index finger to his lips, indicating the cyborg to remain silent.
Wooyoung squinted his eyes, then he nodded.
Hongjoong lowered the gun, never breaking eye contact. He removed his backpack, searching for the plastic bag. He handed it to Wooyoung.
“These are our letters. It’s all I had left of you. Maybe they’ll help you remember,” he explained. “If not, then I’m giving up the very last I have of you. To you. Because you’re alive, and I need to accept that.”
Wooyoung frowned, not taking the letters. “Is that propaganda? Of the rebellion?”
“No. This is personal.” He sighed. “Look, I’ll leave them here with you. I remember reading that you worked in the furnace room. If you think nothing of these letters, just burn them.”
“Those furnaces are only for Old World artifacts,” Wooyoung said, mechanically.
“Technically, the letters are from the Old World.”

He walked over to the wash bowl and cloth on the other side of the room to clean himself, splashing cold water over himself and rubbing at his skin with a bit more force than necessary. The way his body kept evading his carefully crafted control over himself the second his head hit the pillow was getting to him and didn't exactly put him in a mood to treat his corporeal form very gently.

When he was done he got dressed quickly, buttoning up his cossack with practiced motions and feeling a sense of relief when he was fully covered by the black fabric.

another wip wednesday bit from my ateez pacific rim au :3 hongjoong gives seonghwa a hand getting out of his drivesuit

Hongjoong follows Seonghwa obligingly, briefly getting a view of the pilot's full figure from behind before he catches up. "I take it there's no drivesuit room, either-- wait, are you still wearing the spinal clamp?"

Seonghwa pauses as they enter a hall of steel doors that instantly brings back memories of Hong Kong; he reaches back over his shoulder to brush long, slender fingers over the metal protruding from the suit. "Hm? Oh, guess I got distracted. Can you get it?"

"What? The clamp? I've never removed one--" Hongjoong steps back, startled. "You have to do it yourselves?"

"We put them on each other." Seonghwa reaches around with both hands, back arching slightly as he unsuccessfully tries to grasp the top and bottom of the clamp. "It's not really that hard, there's a release at each end--"

Hongjoong hurries forward again, standing on his toes to peer at the top of the ridged metal. "Here?" His fingers find twin buttons on either end, knuckles brushing Seonghwa's back as he presses them; the clamp peels away from the suit, leglike extensions still kicking all along the device. Seonghwa sighs audibly in relief, his shoulders dropping slightly, and an echo from three years ago runs down Hongjoong's spine in response.

He looks down at the clamp, twitching in his hands like some kind of alien lobster. "What should I do with it?"

Seonghwa turns, already tugging the fastenings on his outer armor loose. "I'll return it later." He catches the back of the clamp in a practiced grip, letting it sprawl over his palm. "Your room's over there, if you wanna settle in while I change." He motions with his chin, his other hand busy pulling the armor loose from his chest.

Hongjoong steps inside, setting his bag down on the floor with relief. It's pretty similar to Hong Kong, really-- desk, sink, shelves, and bed freshly made up in military-precise tight fittings, all wrapped in a tiny box of concrete and steel. It's a damn sight nicer than some of the places he's stayed in the last three years. Even the corrugated metal flooring gives him an unexpected burst of warm nostalgia.

"You don't mind testing with me, right?" He glances out the door to see Seonghwa in the room across from him, inner circuitry suit stripped down to his waist, and hastily turns away. Good to know which room Seonghwa is in! He crouches over his bag and digs through it until his hand closes around the pointy edge of his comb. "Uh, I mean, I know there's the whole sparring thing but I don't think we need that? And I haven't exactly kept up training, my brother and I didn't really spar much anyway. Unless you want to--"

"I think we can skip that part," Seonghwa says from behind him. Hongjoong turns to see him in the doorway, freshly changed into black sweatpants and a long-sleeved black shirt that leaves rather a lot of his collar exposed. "Your brother?"
