yeah! it's so that you can quickly search for a word as part of your editing to make sure you changed all the thing you skipped. that's why it should be a relatively uncommon word (or at least one you won't use in the story).

yeah! i think generally so long as you have relatively ok grammar and paragraphs that are readable, readers are much more happy there's a cake than the fact that the icing's a bit smudged but writers are always holding themselves to impossible standards 😔

if you're ever writing and you get stuck on something you need to research or figure out, you can just write ELEPHANT (or some other uncommon word, my friend uses XYLOPHONE) and keep going

(so if i need to name a kingdom i might write "In the kingdom of ELEPHANT" and fix it in edits)
