Here’s my paper and slides from the @yorkstjohn.bsky.social Haunted Soundscapes symposium. It’s an excerpt from a larger work in progress. It joins the dots between #BoardsOfCanada, Freud, Otto Rank, Georg Simmel, Gaston Bachelard, Marx, Mark Fisher, Derrida, and Fredric Jameson and #SesameStreet!

Just devastating. Most of my feed is rightfully outraged about the cuts to music (posed to become an "extra curricular" activity) but the cuts to modern languages are so grim too: if I understand correctly, it means no HE language provision on this side of the midlands www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I’ll never tire of receiving a new book to pore over. I’ve been waiting for this one from @objectoriented.bsky.social to “drop” since I first heard about it. Penguin have exceed themselves. A beautiful hardback with grainy dust sleeve and embossed title author text. Truly an object (🥁) of beauty!

The deadline for the joint BAMS/ MSA conference is fast approaching! It's exactly one month away on December 1, 2025. Please note it's the same deadline for panels, papers, roundtables, and workshop/ seminar proposals. You can propose in-person or online panels/ roundtables (but not hybrids).
Believe it or not, it's already time to think about MSA 2026 in Loughborough, UK. The conference will meet July 1-4, and proposals for panels, papers, roundtables, workshops, and seminars is December 1. Please note this MUCH earlier deadline. The CFP is here: www.moderniststudies.org/conference/M...

#AcademicSky - what’s the consensus on uploading conference papers (containing unpublished research) to sites such as ORCiD or PhilPapers? Do much folk do that here? I’m just trying to strengthen my online presence but without potentially shooting myself in the foot.

Has anyone got any good pointers for a total neophyte in Aboriginal/Indigenous philosophies? I’m coming at it from an ontological/ecological/new or speculative materialist POV. Any key scholars, collections, etc. that you think I should check out?
