The event will last for the better half of the day, as the agenda includes lectures, workshops, and performances by contemporary experimental music performers, including a uniquely Japanese genre commonly referred to as Japanoise. Lectures: • Marcin Zóltowski: "Between Noise and Music. Introduction to sound art". • Eukasz Szatankiewicz: "Early Digital Cultures 3.0" • Maciej Ozóg, PhD, Department of New Media and Digital Culture, University of Lodz: "How does the Technological Other perceive us? Explorations into the technological, non-human perception in artificial intelligence art." • Kazumoto Endo: "Introducing examples of audio-reactive visuals with TouchDesigner and p5.js" Live performances: • Kazumoto Endo (Japan) • Like Weeds (Japan) • Crank Sturgeon (USA) • PCRV (USA) • Tourette (France) • Maciej Ozóg (Poland) • gamma.function (Poland) • Dystopian Control (Poland) • Purgist (Poland) The event will also host the official premieres of two music releases: the first release by Haus of Sleep, a reissue of " Eroboros," a seminal album by the French artist Tourette. Truculent Recordings originally released the album on a tape in 2006, and after nearly 20 years, it is coming out again, this time on a high-quality 12" LP Vinyl Record. Additionally, a Polish independent music label, Negation Institute, is going to premiere its reissue of PURGIST's album "Fragile/Resilient", which originally came out as a digital-only release in 2016. Negation Institute decided to publish it again on a cassette tape, nine years after the initial premiere. The Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology offers admission free of charge upon presentation of your Student's ID Card.

Just devastating. Most of my feed is rightfully outraged about the cuts to music (posed to become an "extra curricular" activity) but the cuts to modern languages are so grim too: if I understand correctly, it means no HE language provision on this side of the midlands www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Manifesto For a New Humanism Prof. Tim Ingold “For the past three centuries, the West has been driven by a doctrine of progress, first articulated by philosophers of the European Enlightenment, according to which the destiny of humanity is to exercise dominion over the rest of creation. This doctrine has underwritten developments in science and technology which have improved the lives of millions. They have nevertheless come at the cost of mounting social injustice and environmental degradation. Today, these costs are no longer sustainable. Contemporary critics call for an alternative, post-humanist settlement that would topple humanity from its pedestal at the peak of creation and re-embed human being in a world of more than humans, thus collapsing the distinctions between human and nonhuman, and between society and nature. However, this move, in absolving humans of responsibility for the life around them, would leave coming generations with no role to play in future planetary flourishing. I argue instead that humans are indeed exceptional among living beings, thanks to a way of listening that, by giving voice to the beings around them, weaves them into a chorus they alone can hear. This is language, and it confers on humans a responsibility towards others that is truly exceptional. But it is a responsibility they can only exercise from a position at the heart of the lifeworld itself. This is anthropocentrism in the strict sense. Acknowledging the centrality of humans within a world of living beings, rather than their separation from it, is fundamental to a new humanism committed to coexistence rather than domination, and sustainability rather than progress. For the new humanist, humans are not beings but becomings, continually giving birth to themselves and one another within the crucible of a world that, as the word 'nature' suggests, is the mother of all things.
