After all this time and the disconnect from Hyrule he was not as knowledgeable as his father.

“I told you before I'm Sprout." The old tongue still. The Deku Tree seems disappointed, was he pouting? But that was the Link he knew. All business; he handled the revelation of his origins as a Hylian without even taking a moment to process.

The leaves on the tree tremble as the tree looks down at the pair.

"Link… you came back?" The ancient language slips from the guardian deity, to which the boy responds in their current tongue.

“Can you help us find the pieces, Great Deku Tree."

"Shattered?” Link asks, moving to stand beside Octavo.

Octavo's heart sinks just a little when he sees it's not the same tree. Did they inherit memories, he wonders. He doesn't notice at first that Link isn't with him.

"We've come to find the Triforce," he says. "To hopefully set things right for this cursed land."

Link follows the bard, it takes everything in him not to run like an excited child. He closed his eyes, curbing his childish enthusiasm before looking up at the large tree. It doesn't look anything like his Great Deku Tree, but the voice tells him all he needs to know.

Seeing Octavo first, the Great Deku tree moves slightly as if trying to figure out where the other is from.

“Do not apologize, the weather is dangerous. You are not from here, nor do you wear the green of old. Tell me what brings you here? I know it is not just the forest's safety.”

Link listened quietly; he realized he often forgot about Ghirahim, but from what he'd seen he was more unnerving than anything else. Which, in truth, after experiencing Soul Edge he was grateful Demise didn't get that thing. The battle with Sky would've been a lot worse.

But his puppet, Nightmare, crashed the fight. I died… multiple times. That was how I learned I couldn't. So instead he went for my mind to allow Inferno to take hold. The Triforce activated, Soul Edge shattered the small shield it gave me, and in that lapse of faith. It latched.

Those who grasp its hilt are unable to escape its curse, as its spirit invades the mind like a parasite and drives its wielder insane. The most notable thing about it besides its permanent red stain is its animated eye.

Normally I could deal with Inferno, I had done so once before.

Because where that's placed would be after the prank.

I'm not sure if it should be right after but it'd be really funny if it was.
