I genuinely don't know how you get the best out of Wirtz. It's annoying because he has real quality. But, the more I watch, the less I'm convinced that it will ever click for us. I just can't see the big shift that helps him improve. Hope I'm wrong. Because it'd be a real shame.

Gel to what, though? Breakdown what is happening on the pitch: what is our attacking structure? What are our patterns of play? Who are our "go-to" players? And who is responsible for linking to that? What's our defensive structure? What's our structure to disrupt counters?...

It is. I know it's anathema to say it. But there's a very clear lack of management of this group of players. And this group have shown, week in and out, that without clear, simple structure, they will not recover. So, the sooner the management improves, the better.

This is definitely bad coaching. The players don't even have an opportunity to have individual bad because they are collectively in a tumble dryer of confusion. Not a single player knows what they're doing. And they're all silently screaming for help.

In just the past 5 minutes, we've seen three different players defend a corner with an opportunity to clear and push up, lose the ball trying to dribble out. That's fundamentals. Page 1 of footy at any level. For whatever reason, these players do not know that anymore. That's coaching.

This is how it's gone for us:

- for most games pre-Palace, #LFC have been bad in spats and good in spats.
- at Palace, we were bad for a half and good for a half
- at Gala, we were bad for 90 mins

I personally don't think this is good. Some of you may disagree. Make of it what you will.

I agree. But I think that, even in yesterday's game, with all that wasn't going for us, we could've quite easily got a draw if we improved even one of the things we were bad at by about 5%. But that didn't happen for 90 mins - that was the most infuriating thing.

It's disappointing that we barely created in the second half. But on the whole, that was a game that we'd have walked away with a draw, easily, despite the self-inflicted sloppy moments and horrible officiating.

To be clear, I'm referring to the first half vs Palace and yesterday. I don't agree with the general narrative that we've been totally bad. We've been bad and good in spats. But, in the past 2 games, when we've been bad, we've been atrocious. I don't think that's inaccurate.

They haven’t been “atrocious”, though. Until the 1st half & Palace & last night, they were erratic. Even within games, we were inconsistent. Some individuals are struggling with form, some fitness, & some are adapting, but that’s where we are atm.

You're right. But I don't think people care about the results. The performances have been atrocious. That's putting it mildly. The performances are going to need to be infinitely less atrocious to achieve #LFC's goals - that's the rub. Basically, will they improve enough and when?

It’s not the time to throw the baby out with the bath water. It’s time to double down & do the basics well. I was as disappointed as anyone about the two losses, but fucking hell!

It’s two loses, not ten! It wasn’t structural or tactical what cost us last night. It was individual errors.

My point is that nothing is preventing us for playing the ref, too. That's why I won't blame the ref. Because a less canny team than Gala probably don't leverage his weakness that effectively. They absolutely rinsed him with the diving about, time wasting and complaining.

But, ultimately, it worked for Gala. They were NEVER going to "play fair". It's not fair when you compare their players to ours. They have to use other factors. One being home crow pressure. Another being playing the ref. Whether we like it or not, it's a thing - especially in the UCL

It's why players who get fouled start counting the number of fouls towards on their fingers towards the ref. It's to suggest that the ref is allowing the other team to get away with too much without penalising them. It's not a new thing.

I hear this often. What it does is you're building a narrative of "unfairness" towards your team by highlighting the number decisions that go against you. This is an unspoken tactic. But it's absolutely an effective one under the right circumstances (typically, a weak ref).

You're right. And it's one of the biggest flaws in our game. And we saw it BIG TIME tonight. I'm all for "Best team wins based on skill". But it's not the reality. Don't complain if a team plays a weak ref because that same weak ref is there for you to play, too.

No. Here's an example: Szobo gives away the pen and stands there looking guilty as VVD protests. What do you think Gala would've done if that penalty goes against them? We already know because about 7 players surrounded the ref on a decision I'd argue was more of a penalty than ours!

We tried that but it didn’t make a difference. Our players vehemently protested every decision as well!

We just didn’t roll on the ground if we could help it coz we genuinely couldn’t afford to waste time

My point on this is fouls are what you make them. They went down and screamed every time we breathed on them. And when they were penalised for anything, they hounded the ref. But here's the thing: NOTHING prevents us from doing the same. Because the ref was there to be got at.

That’s a bit extreme. It’s like saying if the odds of a game went against you 5:1 in a game through factors not caused by you, it’s still all your fault if you didn’t prevail

We played well in patches but tough to expect consistency when up against a side allowed to play rugby

Mad that there are fans saying that performance wasn't that bad. Nobody was above a 6, firstly. But, ignoring individuals, what part of that performance was even average? Just name a single part of it that we were even adequate at...
