A doctor has been serving one of Baltimore’s poorest neighborhoods for decades — and if his patients can’t pay, that’s OK with him.

So when he was diagnosed with cancer, his community rallied to raise $100,000 for his treatments.
For decades, a doctor refused to charge patients who couldn't pay. When he couldn't pay, his patients came to his aid.
When Dr. Michael Zollicoffer was diagnosed with two types of cancer, his patients started a crowdfunding campaign that raised more than $100,000.

It’s a systemic issue. As a woman in med school, I believe wellness, compassion, and addressing the mental health challenges of female physicians must begin at the med school level. We need to prioritize this from the start.

For anyone following #AI, #Ethics, and #Medicine-- this will raise important questions about the role of innovation in healthcare, particularly around liability, if it passes.
