“Forget the myths the media has created about the White House. The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.”
If you threw two canisters, you also threw one.

These people are idiots who think they're brilliant.
Gregory Bovino’s deposition is out. Check here and @chicagotribune.com for highlights. Throughout, Bovino was evasive and combative. In this, while being asked about a photo showing him throwing tear gas, Bovino said: “You said canister. I threw two. That’s plural.”

I would be interested in deep dive public opinion research into what Americans think about when they think about undocumented immigrants. The difference on "enrich American culture and values" is in particular striking

I am not a lawyer, but I don't think the UCMJ supersedes the speech or debate clause of the Constitution.
Hegseth is now threatening to recall Sen. Mark Kelly to active duty in order to court martial him.

Which of you asked Santa for a War with Venezuela for Christmas? Because it certainly wasn't the Congress of the United States, the body empowered by the Constitution to do so
Now that real reporters have been kicked out of the Pentagon for refusing to report only authorized news, we have to depend on tweets from people from Newsnation. No idea if this is reliable. But it’s worrying.

Billionaires should pay someone to be a personal ombudsman and tell them when their ideas (and jokes) are terrible, because while I'm sure people laughed at the party where Musk did this, it wasn't because his jokes were funny
Everything about this might be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen

Voting reform advocates should be willing to require ballots to be received by Election Day (as long as there are sufficient Election Day drop boxes), not just post-marked by Election Day, as part of a broader voting reform package. Faster counting of votes is good for trust in the system
Interesting: In testimony to the D.C. Council about implementing ranked-choice voting next year, elections board director Monica Evans says reporting results will take longer, up to 10 days after the election. That's because all mail ballots need to be received before counting.

An ICE agent was caught removing a sign marking an ICE kidnapping in DC last week! Do we think he did it out of anger, embarrassment, or most appropriately shame? If you think what you’re doing is right, why are you trying to hide the evidence? 👀

You don't need to be on X. Your engagement is down, and your audience is mostly sock puppet accounts. If you're on X, consider this your call to quit before the end of 2025
X launched a feature over the weekend that displays users’ locations, renewing scrutiny of the provenance of many accounts, including those that post frequently about U.S. politics.
X Displays Users’ Locations, Fueling Scrutiny Over Political Accounts
Online sleuths quickly found that some accounts posting about U.S. politics, including those in support of the MAGA movement, appeared not to be based in the United States.

Thanksgiving hot take: turkey doesn't taste bad, it's a (cooking) skills issue.

Listening to this very good @onthemedia.bsky.social ep on the intra-Democratic Party debate on moderation, I'm struck that one difference underlying competing perspectives is in which dimensions of public opinion are thought to be exogenous and which are thought to be endogenous to communication

Fellow cooks what leftover-using dishes are you planning post Thanksgiving? Turkey sandwiches and stuffing waffles are two musts for us, and deciding between turkey pho and turkey ramen

Thanksgiving cooks, do you have any dishes that you’re the only one at the table who likes them but you make them anyhow?

Mine is turkey liver mousse with cranberry gelee

It's the start of Thanksgiving Week, and I'm going to need a lot of folks to spend more time reflect on how they ended up in this country. If your family history is like mine, your ancestors just showed up, without requiring a visa, often against the wishes of the native born inhabitants
