At one point Morgan yells “WHAT?” at me and you have to read to find out why 😂 #Gaskell #northandsouth
This May, we're thrilled to bring a new edition of Elizabeth Gaskell's NORTH AND SOUTH (1855) to your bookshelves featuring a (heated!) conversation between Gaskell enthusiast Adrienne Garcia-Specht and actor/activist Morgan Spector (HBO's THE GILDED AGE). unnamedpress.com
When discussing yearning on screen, we do not talk about Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson in Remains of the Day enough. #filmsky

Fans do appreciate mentions of Nash- I’m glad he’s still part of the #missscarletpbs world. he was such an important person to and for Eliza’s journey 😭
Now, that's why! He's met her through her connection to Mr. Nash and all that money! I miss Mr. Nash... I hope we'll get to see him again one day. #MissScarletPBS

Bari will never explicitly say "it's fine for masked agents of the state to murder civilians." But she will say, again and again, that the people who are upset about masked agents of the state murdering civilians are hysterical, illegitimate, censorious liars.

Abolish and prosecute ICE. They did a murder in broad daylight today. Imagine what they're doing in the closed facilities we're somehow not even allowed to see.

Yup--here in NYC, @handsoffnyc.bsky.social is the place to start.
Your local area likely has a Rapid Response network desperate for volunteers to help people being targeted by ICE. If you want to do something, find that organization and sign up for a training. Donate money sure but they need people!

Watching Jeopardy with even more enthusiasm.
The “prosecute the former regime at every level” candidate has my vote in 2028.

ICE observers in the Twin Cities are in need of dash cams to prevent further intimidation and frivolous claims.

Cams are $110, memory cards $35, and ship to us directly via this wish list: www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/...

If you've been looking for a way to help, we'd sure appreciate it!

I like reading Elizabeth Gaskell because she will tell you precisely how hot someone is objectively and in relation to the people around them. She triangulates hotness.

The first great American 250th anniversary date of the year arrives this Friday: the publication of Thomas Paine's COMMON SENSE, which occurred on January 9, 1776.

Many sources have the date as January 10, 1776. This is incorrect. But what accounts for the confusion???? Friends, follow me.

Who was the first person to say Cranford is Gaskell’s greatest work? They’re wrong. That is all. lol.

✨This book was once owned by Jane Austen! ✨

There are very few books that Jane Austen is known to have owned, making this one at the UL incredibly special. We're delighted to show it to you today, on her 250th birthday!

Rob Reiner directed some of the greatest moments cinema, including when Carrie Fisher folds down the corner of the card because the man is married but puts it back in her Rolodex.
