This #Labour government is planning to make fundamental changes to how our judicial system works, at the same time threatening long held rights of British citizens under the law

Without any of it appearing in the election manifesto

That doesn’t seem remotely acceptable in a supposed #democracy

🚩 for authoritarian creep here
(Both meanings work)
Sorry, what now? Personally I tend to think this government suggesting scrapping the right to appeal is potentially an even bigger issue with Lammy's reported proposals than the idiotic idea of getting rid of juries. This would be dangerous territory. #r4today

So, if you are disabled Reeves believes you only deserve the poorest quality shit available?
A gross comment from her.
#Labour is ableist, racist, childist, transphobic; it’s doing criminally badly on equality &, in consequence, damaging or destroying literally millions of lives in the process
“The Motability scheme was set up to protect the most vulnerable. Not to subsidise the lease on a Mercedes Benz,” Reeves says.

Misleading and nasty in equal measure.

Baroness Hallett concluded airborne transmission risk is substantial & the Government was remiss in failing to communicate this from mid 2020! 👇
12.32: "As 2020 progressed, it was increasingly understood that airborne transmission of Covid-19 was a substantial risk and, by 23 July 2020, SAGE had endorsed the importance of good ventilation."

It follows advice from the UKHSA and an infection control team."

Most likely flu. Why are UKHSA still advising surface cleaning? Everyone knows #CovidIsAirborne

Like the Covid Inquiry, the series on Nazanin Zaghari and Richard Ratcliffe is yet another reminder that from 2015 - 2024 we were governed by a shedload of f*ckwitted dilettantes

Child poverty costs the UK economy an estimated £39 billion per year - more than ten times the money that keeping the two-child limit 'saves'.

And as the limit itself is the largest driver of rising child poverty in the UK, scrapping it would be the most cost-effective way to reduce child poverty.

The Labour Party is also anti-democratic/authoritarian, a political axis independent of the L-R one
Hence its mistrust of the vital civil-society role of universities (civil society is essential to a functioning democracy) & tolerance of the authoritarianism Gove inflicted on English schoolchildren

Your article in The Lead on the rise of authoritarianism in schools was excellent - I share it all the time!
Just a note: this is a huge problem in England, much less so in Wales where we have no academies, & the Senedd has encouraged a “trauma-informed” schools agenda

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.

The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

Yet another illegal & violent US-foray into Latin America.
These never end well, but it’s particularly true for the ordinary citizens of whichever country the US is currently buggering up
Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout
