A bit more progress on the rainy day in 1918. #histscalemodels

Forty-odd years of the politics of greed, self-interest and the cult of the individual. Anyone who openly admires, or quotes Hayek is unfit to be let anywhere near a public post.

She asset-stripped an entire country and squandered the money to buy votes. Most of the problems with Britain today can be traced back to her disastrous social and economic experiment.

Thatcher was born 100 years ago and her reign feels a lifetime away. Why is her effect on the country still so huge? | Martin Kettle

Wake up Britain.

In the US, the Ellisons have put “anti-woke” Bari Weiss in charge of CBS News. The goal is to turn it into a mouthpiece for Trump. No wonder Trump is backing Larry’s AI plans.

In the UK, the Ellisons own Channel 5. And ITN’s contract for 5 News ends in 2028. The shit is coming.

Been reading @russincheshire.bsky.social Tories - End of An Error. Brilliantly funny, but I had to stop, it made me so angry at times. The damage done to our country by a bunch of Hayek-addicted idealogues, aided and abetted by some absolute fucking idiots. Sorry Russ, I'll get through it eventually

That's the beginnings of the slippery slope to a full size layout.

I've no idea what variant of chutney we're going to make, it's all in The Girl's head at the moment. Though excess pears are involved. She tells me we're going to be making apple cider vinegar as well.

Oh, and apparently, we're making chutney today. News to me. But as I'm a mere kitchen appliance that's no surprise.

Quite a lot has gone into the compost too, which has cheered all the little creatures that live in there.

Yeah, I've a ton of basil in the greenhouse waiting for me to get pesto-y. Toying with making some basil oil too, if I've enough.

As a bloke hitting my late fifties it resonated with me a lot. I couldn't stop playing it when it was first released.

Yesterday was a veritable frenzy of jam making and preserving fruit for the freezer. Still have loads more to do today.

We spent Thursday picking up all the windfall and collecting the best pears and apples from our trees, to avoid them being blown off the tree.

Good choice. I actually thought that Rewind The Film was the best thing they'd done since This is My Truth. It remains one of my favourites, though The Holy Bible remains my all-time fave.

Not sure if my fingerprints are still on it somewhere since 1977. Nice to see the old girl again. Really ought to make a trip down to the museum again.

Yep, definitely worth a trip. Lots of interesting exhibits. Including the first aircraft I ever worked on as a young apprentice engineer, the Vickers Vanguard G-APEP.
