Season 2 just feels so...complete. It's no wonder this is often hailed as the high point when it's pretty much the peak potential that S1 initially promised. A case study in being a perfect followup.

special mention to Rice Shower, whose story flips the usual underdog format. It still fits within the overall driving theme but in a different way, chasing and ultimately running for self-affirmation even when everyone else doesn't see it the same way.

Palmer and Helios go for the most meathead race strategy of all time and it *actually works*. Canopus may be goofballs but if they want it enough, even they can win against all odds.

I mention this in the live thread but S2 is incredibly faithful to the careers of the irl horses that the girls represent - and it weaves into this larger narrative united by a single theme that crystallizes itself in the final episode's epic final race. It's so fucking impressive.

And then there's the supporting cast! Everyone's arcs are incredible, and directly feed into the driving theme of the entire season

Teio/McQueen feels like *the* definitive Uma pairing

sure maybe some others are cuter, are more popular or whatever else, but as a story of two g̵i̵r̵l̵f̵r̵i̵e̵n̵d̵s̵ rivals who mirror each other's ups and downs, I don't know if there'll be a better one?

Season 1 had the insane pressure of having to introduce the entire concept and world of Umamusume.

Once that weight was lifted, Season 2 does what every followup hopes to do but rarely pulls off to this degree - build on the foundation and knock everyone's socks off! 🧵

okay I'll just say this at least - altho Uma did have the advantage of the actual irl race being insanely stacked, there's such an epic feeling of finality at the final Arima Kinen
