I wanted to practice Architecture, but then I added Carver in REALLY BIG. Then I went "He needs a reason to be on a rooftop in his Street Clothes," so I added Colby and some dialogue to justify it. Then the Word Balloons covered even more of the background. 🤷‍♂️

My assignment for Winona Nelson's SmArtschool class: Choose a favorite book and illustrate a cover for it.

I picked "The Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller, and my goal was to capture a similar bittersweet tone as the novel has.
Achilles and Patroclos, standing next to each other in front of a raging fire. Achilles is outfitted for battle and looks wistfully into the distance, while Patroclos ties some laces of his armor, also looking sad. Behind them and above there's the mosaic of a warrior in his chariot.

I need to resurrect these two. I have a bunch of OCs, but I don't really talk about them because, well... what can I say?
