With my reparations work, I often get the same questions over and over. A law prof’s first impulse is already what I got asked at the bar and before that in the Uber. That’s why my new Roosevelt report has an FAQ section. Why should publicly-traded corporations have to pay reparations? Answer here:
Financing Reparative Policies: How a Tax Paid in Stock Could Raise a Trillion Dollars Within a Year - Roosevelt Institute
In a new analysis, Jeremy Bearer-Friend argues that an innovative approach to tax law offers an opportunity to finally fund reparations for slavery.

This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system.

I am not fearful — I am fearless.

We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights..

A senior administration official, as well as other officials, told Rolling Stone that it is a priority of Trump that these kinds of military deployments -- in times of relative calm -- become normalized in American political culture.

Hello. The president's continued insistence that the BLS numbers are rigged, political, or otherwise manipulated is a lie. Please stop saying 'baseless claim.' Thank you.

“But the fact that agents felt comfortable apprehending a man on church property — and were willing, Lopez says, to raise a weapon at her even after she identified herself as a pastor — left her shaken.”

Like essentially all of consumer capitalism is based on selling things to people and then trying to steal it back. This is why you should never buy smart anything if there are viable alternatives available unless you're prepared to lose it

The impulse to deploy US military on US civilians on US soil was always the wrong choice and I’m relieved this is being corrected.

The 700 active-duty Marines deployed to Los Angeles last month will withdraw from the city, the Pentagon said, as the Trump administration continues to scale back its military deployment there following protests of federal immigration raids.

I presented my poll tax research at my former law firm today. All of the work was historical but it raised a very contemporary question: are there taxes today that target harm on vulnerable groups? Tax lawyers are the ones who best know the Internal Revenue Code and it is up to us to answer this Q.

UPDATE: Senate Republicans made Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill even worse.

Now, this bill rips health care coverage away from 17 MILLION people—that’s an additional 1 MILLION people.

Health care cuts now total over $1 TRILLION.

Reminder that if Senators vote on a 900+ page bill that was released less than 24 hours ago... most haven't even read it. And they don't want you to read it, either.
