At huge risk of being boring (don't care, not boring to me), walked along a bit of Salisbury Cathedral Close wall today & looked at carved stone from the previous cathedral at Old Sarum & possibly a couple of masons' marks. It is in a really bad way: when I was a child that head looked like a head.

Not feeding the cats until bedtime, in the hope they don't wake me at 5am. They aren't complaining yet.

This engraving of ice skaters in St James' Park, from 'The Beauties of England and Wales' (1815), is giving us winter activity inspiration. Though if you could still skate in St James' Park, you'd probably have to avoid the pelicans now!

We've always liked the door to the tollhouse for the Littlehampton Swing Bridge.
Stable door style, with separate top and bottom and those lovely little panes of glass.

In 1963, a Viking-Age grave was discovered on a farm in Westness, Orkney, which contained a bronze mount decorated with a wolf 🐺

It's one of many traces found by archaeologists of the fearsome predator which roamed Scotland for centuries after the last ice age: www.digitscotland.com/the-archaeol...

Fascinating world of ancient glass: The skill of ancient glassmakers never ceases to amaze me.

This a magnificent #Roman striped mosaic bowl was made of preformed rods and canes fused on or in a mold.
Dating late 1st c. BC/early 1st c AD.

Timeless beauty!

It's that time of year when I show you my favourite Christmas photo, which is me receiving a present from Father Christmas c1969. (I don't think it was the REAL F.C.)

Another go at spinning. Made actual yarn! Much better than my first attempt. Uneven, and I did the plying with the help of a cat and a door handle, so that's uneven too. I must find out how you're supposed to do it.

#25CardsofChristmas 2005's card: I screenprinted this one down at the Oxford Printmakers Co-op. And that was about the last batch of printing I ever did at the Co-op - son Herbie was born in August the next year, and going out printmaking stopped being an option.
