I'm just a simple swamp child trying to learn manners.

Seriously I try very hard not to be tedious and off-putting but look we all fall short of our goals sometimes
Had a child with... not special needs, but _more_ needs. Am temperamentally unsuited to providing services on demand. Alternatives seem grim.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

One thing that I don't like about being a weird little guy is that sometimes I would like to make a friend, but they don't like weird little guys

new boatsim

I have played the demo enough to verify that the boats are that good real shit, but the way the game parlays mouse inputs into interacting with the sails is pretty opaque. I'll learn more soon and report back.

Calling it done. Looks okay enough from several angles. My biggest enemy is me trying to do a little more and screwing it up, so.

Some lacquer will hopefully even out the sheen of the whole panel.

Okay, let's get started. Key to remember: I do not have any idea what I'm doing

I'm attempting to address this cracked veneer. I'm starting conservative and if that doesn't look good, I'll get a little more aggressive. Messing this veneer up isn't something I can really recover from, so we take this in steps.

Important corollary: good people can make bad art

It's okay :)
We still love you ♥️
This is less a subtweet, and more of a thought I just want to get out there:

Bad people can make good art.

When a game that people liked turns out to have been made by someone shitty, it doesn't instantly become bad. You don't have to go full Sour Grapes on it. Two things can be true at once.

Veneer problems!

We got cracking, we got warping, we got uh, big cracking

The warping should be relatively easy to deal with. The hide glue underneath can be made ductile again with some heat. I've used a heat gun and a block to press it back in place a bit, but a clothes iron might help too

Are there any wood ID people on here? I'm a little mystified at this stuff. I've narrowed the date to 1920s, so it's possible it's some species we don't use any more. It's color is like walnut, but the grain patterns are not. It's not notably hard, somewhere between walnut and maple.

alright well now your Jimbo privileges are revoked. how about that James Wales?
Wikipedia founder Jimbo Wales is trying to use his name to convince Wikipedia editors to deny the Gaza Genocide, recognized by many human rights organizations.

Although he's not seizing control, this is an extreme attempt to sway Wikipedia content in violation of its founding principles.

Work continues on the Federal card table. Today we're addressing the most major repair the piece needs: the extremely broken leg.

I found this piece on the side of the road (a rare occurrence, despite its ubiquity as a storytelling device), the leg was loosely attached with electrical tape.

I need to find some resources for American furniture making design history. I have some books about basic design principles, and some books on Shaker design, but that's all.

Trying to get more information on these inlays, but I don't even know the time period or geography. No maker's mark.
