Feeling like the only one who still cares about trying not to get or spread COVID, is hard. I'm grateful to @1goodtern.bsky.social for writing this. It helps me understand what motivates the denial and why persisting in spite of it, still matters.

The first reports of what would eventually be called AIDS and its causative agent identified as HIV were published in the MMWR in 1981 alerting health care and public health systems across the country. A tremendous loss for public health.

Reducing vaccine uptake in 2 ways: make it harder for those who still want them; create doubt and confusion to grow the number who don’t want them anymore.

Both serve same goal: eliminate the use of vaccines by collapsing the market. Same outcome as a ban, but they can blame the manufacturers.

Note there’s no information on the respective population sizes. There are far more vaccinated than unvaccinated people, so there will also be more deaths in the vaccinated group just because there are more of them.

RFK Jr. has been an anti-vax zealot for 20 years, and Dr. Cassidy knew that when he gave a Senate floor speech advocating for his confirmation.

Now we have a DHHS Secretary who has to be pleaded with to recommend vaccination in the face of an outbreak in which children are dying.

It’s not vaccines. It’s not going to be solved by gutting the CDC & pushing raw milk.

Reminds me of when 2-3 years ago she platformed a self-described “public health fact-checker” whose social media content made clear her agenda to discredit public health and PH professionals. Seems to think “collaborating” with people trying to destroy public health, will somehow make them stop.

His cousin Caroline called him a predator. He’s a sociopath who craves power and control, and “health” is simply the angle he uses to achieve that. Holding on to power requires discrediting the people and institutions who threaten to expose him as the fraud he is.

We should remind people to notice that real experts don’t spend time smearing other experts because, unlike RFK Jr., they don’t feel threatened by expertise.

They welcome it because that’s how they learn, unlike RFK Jr., who is desperately trying to keep from being exposed as the charlatan he is.
