Educate. Agitate. Inoculate. Organize.
Because I am crazy, I just left my house in the shadow of the Yale Bowl at 1145 on the day of the Yale/Harvard game (noon kickoff) to go to the Milford Costco for one item. On the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

McFadden has used the aliases Shiloh Mathis, Frank Hargrave, and Miles Bakari, and has spent time in Baltimore, Joppa, Md., Lake City, S.C., Columbia, S.C., Atlanta, New York City, Rochester, N.Y, and Los Angeles. If you know anything: Detective Cundiff 434-996-5875 or [email protected].
This is major. If you know anything about Shiloh/Erik's whereabouts for the last 13 years, please contact the Charlottesville Police Department.

I'm sending work emails at 10:30 at night and channeling my New England grandmother as I use the term "sir." New Englanders use formality the way southerners say "bless your heart."

So much for only hiring the best to be SROs. Why are we allowing cops in the schools?

Apropos of nothing, but given how police are allowed to move from force to force with all sorts of misconduct in their employment files, are SROs required to undergo the same background checks as every other school employee?
Putting cops in schools leads to bad outcomes. Here's a story about an ex-Charlottesville Police Department cop who has been working in Greene County schools

"Stubborn and principled often look the same, especially to those who are unprincipled." --Jim Ryan

While he was often a source of disappointment as president, at least he disappointed the left and the right equally, which tells me he really didn't bring a personal agenda into his work.

Am I the only person who finds the plastic soup spoons at Panera to be unusable? My lips end up shredded every time I am stuck using one. It makes Autumn Squash Soup season particularly exciting.

Mamdani won on a progressive platform of affordability, transportation, inclusive schools and safe streets.

Spanberger won on a moderate platform of affordability, transportation, inclusive schools and safe streets.

what is the difference? age? race/religion? The target of their ire?

Did Cheney go to bed Monday night saying, "A blue wave tomorrow that results in a Muslim mayor for NYC and a Muslim LG in Virginia? Over my dead body!"

If you are one of the 113 people who voted for Elicker on the Working Families line in New Haven's ward 25, I would love to meet with you about how we can increase voter turnout and build a stronger, progressive coalition in our neighborhood to protect our democracy.
November 5, 2025 at 4:30 PM
Midterms are in 363 days. What are you doing to strengthen our democracy between today and November 3, 2026?

Register voters?
Attend local gov meetings?
Lobby for better election laws?
Educate voters?
Build coalitions?
Organize rides to the polls?
Build voter protection teams?

For those still laughing at the Kentuckyians after their republican secretary of state mocked them, please read William Barber's White Poverty and then tell me if mocking rural voters is the way to build a winning coalition for our future.

‘White Poverty: How Exposing Myths About Race and Class Can Reconstruct American Democracy’
In the closing chapter of a recent book, the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II writes about the hope he sees when poor people come together to advocate for better working conditions and better policies.

I did my math wrong, but it was still less than 20%. Abysmal.
Is my math correct? Less than 5% of registered voters in New Haven turned out to vote for mayor yesterday?

That’s a major sign of a dysfunctional democracy.

I’ve tried multiple times to sign up for the mailing list for the DTC, and I have yet to receive a single email.

That’s another one.

When I said that I was shook yesterday by my polling place not letting us vote for 45 minutes, this is partially why.

Im still angry. Even more angry when I see that my city had single digit turnout percentage for the mayoral race.

Connecticut, why does it take so long for the state elections website to update? And, relatedly, who is reporting the Bridgeport results?
November 5, 2025 at 2:34 AM
My Virginia beloveds, I am so proud of you. And so happy. That house of delegates sweep is incredible.

Jones has been lagging behind Spanberger by 4-4.5% since the first results were reported. If she stays above 55%, I think he will pull out a win.

This afternoon:

1. Email to Secretary of State about the polls closing for 45 minutes.
2. Call to my state Senator about polls closing.
3. Call from GYN about needing a follow up mammogram due to missing records and suspicious spot.
4. Call to Amy at MJH about my missing records.

GenX activism.

You all. I am about to lose my entire mind. I went to vote, and my polling place was CLOSED "for 10 minutes" for "the 1 pm count." We finally left 35 minutes later without voting. I told people it was voter suppression and, it turns out, Connecticut Democrats don't like being told that.

Dick Cheney was the breeder who created the particularly aggressive face-eating leopard running around our country right now and he literally was shocked when it ate his daughter's face.

Today is a great day to exercise your constitutional right to vote against face eating leopards.

Anyone in Charlottesville with some time today would be doing folks a real solid and really helping save the state by parking at Tonsler to tell people the issue and offering rides to anyone who needs a ride up Cherry Ave to vote. Especially as we get closer to the close of polls.
CVILLE- spread the word please -

Anyone who has voted at Tonsler - They need to vote at CVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL now but unfortunately the state was still texting folks to go to Tonsler.

It is only thanks to the hard work of incredible people on the ground in Charlottesville and Albemarle that UVA students aren’t included in this lawsuit. A number of people fought for years to make sure they could register and vote without unconstitutional obstacles.
