My character Theodora and her goblin friend, both very short, peering around the shadowy corner of an alleyway. Their positions mirror each other, both leaning forward with one arm reaching backwards - Theodora is braced against the wall behind her, while the goblin is holding his small cloak in a somewhat dramatic (but mostly silly) action pose. Her face catches an angle of sunlight as figures in the background are overexposed in the brightness. Behind her, further into the shadow, her mimic companion Button is (mostly) disguised as a barrel, waiting for the cue to move. The cover for the game Dragon Dowser - A figure dressed in blue, concealed in a brown cloak, inspects the collapsed nest of a dragon. Most of the eggs have been destroyed by rockfall, but some are whole. They have a blue crystal on a necklace gripped in one hand, and a carefully cradled egg in the other arm. Far in the background, the large skeletal remains of an adult dragon lay in a shadow of burnt earth and the abandoned debris of armor and weaponry a comic page - a butch orc woman, blonde-hair and brown jacket catching in a dramatic wind, catches two pistols from the air with a CLAP CLAP. She yells to someone offscreen to "put the man on the ground for me", drawing the attention of two other figures shadowed in red. The first, a woman with glowing eyes and red hair that is literally on fire, sardonically remarks that the orc woman is "FULL of surprises". If I didn't suspect you'd SHOOT worse than you can SING, canary. Orc: HA! Might just do. You willing to find out? a comic, two-page spread - Theodora, a halfling in her non-armor outfit, wanders quietly through the hall of the team base, looking downcast. Suddenly she reacts in concern when there's a CRASH CRASH [someone screaming] CRASH [what the FU-] crash CRASH and the door in front of her BANGS open, revealing an amorphous blob of teeth and eyes charging directly for her. He's crying THEODORAAAAAA!!! Theodora's face LIGHTS UP and she throws her arms wide. She yells back BUTTON!! with little hearts. Button the mimic abomination SHPLATS into her, knocking her over in a comedic mess of emotional inability to hold his shape. second page: A single drawing of Theodora sitting on the floor, with Button wrapping himself around her like a disgusting fleshy blanket of teeth and grasping appendages. He has a silly tearful grin as he hugs her and cheers "Theodoraaa" heart heart heart. Theodora replies, "I was WONDERING where you got to, you goofy thing." She seems to not mind at all how he's drooling on her hair, grinning and tearing up herself. Button says "THEODORA WAS DEAD, AND BUTTON WAS SAD, BUT NOW THEODORA IS NOT DEAD AND BUTTON IS HAPPY!!" Theodora says "I missed you too, buddy."

I keep coming back to these tarot inspired mechs because I had so much fun designing them and thinking about the world they are from.

Captain of the First Electro-Thaumaturgical Airship, the Challenger. Dubbed 'Wizard-Thief' by the Nyad-Queen Boann. He has a reputation of being Fey Brat-nip. HANNEVER BAKER - LVL 1 summoner A simple woman caught in events far beyond her. offered “branwen” (the valravn) shelter in her home. was mildly infatuated with him. did not know his true nature until it was far too late. later Murdered & soul consumed by the valravn as a “tiresome” consequence of his true goals. Resurrected by local heroes (after they defeated the valravn). --- A simple line drawing of a man in armor. The same sigil hangs over his chest. "BRANWEN" - lvl 1 (?) summoned creature [fey] (also known as: the Valravn, Shadow of Doubt, the Terald, Oathsworn, et cetera.) A small fragment of a much more powerful primordial fey entity. Previously preyed upon the souls of ambitious would-be kings. defeated by well-meaning heroes. Now bound to the newly-resurrected soul of his most recent victim (Hannie). He is greatly reduced now that he’s confined to this form. Currently, he can only appear with the visage Hannie remembers. --- Notes in the margin state: - The Valravn’s natural form is a giant (4ft tall), monstrous raven - But (among other things) it was an adept shapeshifter, often wearing the faces of its victims --- To the top right, a height scale image shows that BRANWEN is 6'7", and HANNIE is 5'2", with a 1.5ft height difference. A simple line drawing of a woman in a loose-shouldered shift, stays, and a long skirt. The drawing is done in black (underthings & stays), light blue (shift), and dark blue (skirt) to show a cross-section of clothing layers. CLOTHING I never draw hannie’s layers correctly, but I do know what they ideally would be. Her clothing isn’t drawn from any single period, partly for fun, and partly because the setting she’s in is a bit of a time-period mash-up anyway. [We don’t need to talk about the inaccuracies of Branwen’s armor (crying)] --- DRAWERS “Split” drawers, which have a gap in the middle for convenience. - For boring practical bathroom purposes, not fun sexy ones. Though, why waste the opportunity? - They should be down to her knees, but I like the short drawers (“pants”) better even though they were a much later development --- STOCKINGS Held up by leg garters– around the knees. not the sexy kind (unless you’re into that) --- SHIFT Worn against her skin to keep her outer layers clean. Probably made of linen; she owns more than one. - I should draw embroidery on them more... --- STAYS Chest & Back support (which my girl clearly needs). Made of leather, worn over her shift. - While often made of cloth & whalebone, lower class women in the early 18th c. did wear leather stays reinforced with reed - They also would have worn an outer layer over their stays– presuming they could afford it. She can’t. - They should be spiral-laced in the front, but it’s a pain in the ass to make sure the lacing is always lined up right... --- SKIRT Probably made of wool, dyed with available plant dye. would (or should) normally wear an apron over it.

Previously a type of devil known as an Erinys. refused an offer to serve a deity. no longer a fiend, she is navigating freedom from restriction and order. views finch with great and inscrutable fondness. Off to the side, there is a small height scale drawing, showing that MEG is 6'0" and FINCH is 5'0", with a 1ft height difference.
