Decentralized hyperlocal organizing also means multiple kinds of actions in multiple places at the same time which is a critical feature of resistance on this terrain.

You can’t kill or arrest everyone.

This is so anti democratic I don’t even know where to start.

What a depressing, elitist, and almost quasi authoritarian way to view politics.
Would the MPs not have picked - say - Cameron, May, Johnson, Sunak and Starmer? And if they would, then what the fuck is the issue here

Just a note that bookies odds are calculated by how people bet so the bookie doesn't lose money. They're not a reliable indicator of how people will vote.

This is why you keep pushing. I doubt Solidarnosc thought this would be the end result either

My mate's uncle wrote Wicked Willy!
The 80s saw a surge in sweary, naughty adult comedy books, many of them TV tie-ins. And in 1984, Gray Jolliffe and Peter Mayle's talking cartoon penis WICKED WILLIE became a minor cultural icon. Some of the humour has aged like milk, mind you (see pic 3)

I loved this but my then 8-year old niece, who I made watch it with me, thought it was a losing combination of creepy and boring
On the subject of Folk Horror I’m going to add this from Mackenzie Crook’s masterpiece adaptation of Worzel Gummidge, where Guy Forks laughs as the flames lick his feet (and they all laugh as ‘his cape goes up’.

It’s silly obviously, but also has a bit of that nonchalant violence of the countryside

Some interesting stuff about paganism in that medieval poetry book I've been reading for ever. Religion for life and the cycles of life, but once that was conquered we needed Christianity to reassure us about the afterlife - the afterlife is barely touched on in paganism

The most interesting thing about this ABC Challenger long read (to me) is that the five engineers who warned it was unsafe then became "lepers".

Why is it not the managers who overruled them to suffer social ostracism?

'They're gonna die': How five people tried to stop the Challenger tragedy
Forty years ago, the Challenger space shuttle disintegrated just after lift-off. A small team of engineers tried to prevent the tragedy.

Gotta suck shit being a true Trump believer. You spend years roiling in anger over made-up bullshit. You fill a little bottle with piss or whatever and spray a 5-foot tall woman with it. She instantly squares up to kick the shit out of you. You go to jail. The goons you idolize say you work for her.
Until it was silenced 10 months ago by DOGE and self-proclaimed USAGM acting CEO Kari Lake, along with the rest of the nearly 50 language services of the Voice of America, VOA Somali reached on a weekly basis ~65% of adults in Somalia.

Pertinent in light of the POLITICAL SCIENTIST I've just seen advocating for the legally impossibile banning of the over 60s
It is absolutely insane that we are trying to come up with workarounds and bans on children accessing social media when the simple solution - holding social media platforms responsible for their content under existing law - has been staring us in the face for years.
This was a minor story on London news this morning - but suspect is a real cautionary (and alarming) tale of an older man getting radicalised online.

Yes, this is all stupid.

Note 'marry early'. Your 9-9-6 day plus gym, running, specialist diet and other activities require support to achieve. A wife in such cases is very helpful. It's more overt here but remains an integral part of much contemporary straight men's lifestyle advice.
