Whopper of the Week: RFK Jr’s Bogus Attacks on Mifepristone Threaten Abortion Access

RFK Jr is not waiting for the FDA study of Mifepristone to come out to cast doubt on its safety. Trump administration is already restricting access to it.

Bhattacharya at U Chicago in off the record talk about « scientific inquiry ».

A rehash of his laments for having been censored for his very scientific plans of ideas; revenge fantasies for not having been taken seriously; justifying attempts to destroy large swaths of the biosciences.
Hope your hypothetical grad student does not depend on NIH funding. By the way, the head of NIH is coming to a University of Chicago “Free Inquiry” forum next week that’s closed to the press and alumni.

WSJ is shocked, shocked, that the ideological cranks & their political backers are actually bad for business.

A little slow on the uptake there, financial wizards…
Ok. But the @wsj.com and their covid disinformation/revisionism put people like him in power.

My quote of the day

Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, and not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.

Context for Prasad’s political axing of Moderna’s flu vax.

Tennessee & Arizona have introduced bills calling mRNA technologies biological weapons.

The Republican Party is an anti science death cult.

We keep debating whether government should be in health care.

It already is.

The real question is whether it will ever act like it.

This isn’t recognition.
It’s normalization of harm

Lemme know when major US media outlets grow a pair to start calling this fascism.
"It is totally inappropriate and against the separations of powers for the DOJ to surveil us as we search the Epstein files. (US Attorney General) Bondi showed up today with a burn book that held a printed search history of exactly what emails I searched." - Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA).

I've written two @nature.com stories this week looking at whether EU efforts to lure US scientists are working 🧪

They are: the number of US applicants wanting to take up ERC grants has doubled. www.nature.com/articles/d41...
US applications for prestigious European research grants surge
Rush for funds to relocate laboratories to Europe is latest sign of a US brain drain.

mRNA flu vaccines have better immunogenicity and better efficacy than traditional flu jab, and can be developed, manufactured and updated faster.

By denying US market, Prasad has essentially killed any prospect of a realistic mRNA flu vaccine in any market.

The fastest warming period since 1880 occurred in the past 30 years, according to a Washington Post analysis of NASA data.
