Krause was Physics chair at CWRU when I started there. So I have a little personal investment in talking shit about that creep every time I hear his name. In addition to being Epstein connected, he’s also been fired from ASU after they determined he committed sexual assault.

Unlikely to discover new particles. But one good make a great argument that one doesn’t need to discover new particles/ new physics in order to do good worthwhile physics. We can just test and get a better understanding of current physics.

I have some ornery views on quantum computing and quantum internet type stuff so sometimes I enjoy her naysaying, but I can see how people would just kid tired of it.

She’s big on speaking out against new particle colliders, because they’re extremely expensive and at this point…

I can empathize with her frustration but I suppose I see the utility of having a library of mathematical models already developed for the day that experimentalists give us something more to work with.

Likewise Quantum Mechanics and Relativity remain unreconciled and in order it reconcile them, we probably have to detect the Graviton, and we are many generations away from being able to do that.

So in the mean time, what do we do with all these Theoretical Physicists?

The best candidates have been ruled out and none of the Standard Model particles remain as good candidates.

Cosmic Inflation is the best pre Big Bang model, but it cannot be studied because it, by nature, erases information about the process that drives it.

Sometimes I’m inclined to agree with her, but I think this problem is rooted in something deeper. Physicists are at their wits end with a few major problems and it’s not clear which direction to go.
