A day of paddling appears to have sapped my energy, tough work today but job done. Bracken probably has the right idea…

📉 Our new paper shows Bewick’s Swan numbers in NW/NE Europe have fallen to ~12,900 birds - a 56.7% decline since 1995, with further losses predicted by 2026 unless survival or breeding success improves. Flyway-wide conservation is urgent. 🦢 Download paper > tidsskrift.dk/Wildfowl/art... #Ornithology

Pallets are a vital component of almost of every distribution system.
In the U.K. many of them are made of Sitka Spruce 🌲 - it’s light weight but strong enough, holds a nail and because it’s a pale colour it is easy to paint.
Almost everything you’ve ever eaten or owned sat at one point in time on top of a wooden pallet. Pallets are essentially invisible, yet they're vital to transport logistics.
In the UK there are approximately 250m wooden pallets in circulation. For more see: www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...

Struggling with hill reps and getting my HR above 154 again, tonight the legs and mind just said no so I ground out an easy loop and got muddy instead. Regroup and try again next week

It looks like the #WildflowerID community has failed this time. I'm not sure, although I think it's Rosaceae and maybe Berberis (would have expected to see spines though...) ??? Someone out there must know what this is?

This is a heads-up about fake AI accounts which have proliferated across social media.

The screenshot is from a genuine thread asking for advice on a mountain route; there are plenty of useful, real human replies.
The attempted reply (we stopped it) looks very real - but it is from an AI bot.

In London, in 2025, we're keeping penguins in a windowless basement with no access to deep water, to entertain tourists?

This is UTTERLY unacceptable.

Rehome them to someone whose focus is conservation, not exploiting wildlife for money. #London #SeaLife
