Just one pedestrian, in an incident, **involving** a pedal cycle is killed. It does not show who was at fault

Of all the Sheffield stands installed by @eastsussexcc.bsky.social on Terminus Road #Eastbourne ( Along the bus lane) only 5 now remain. You can still see where the old fixings were. Now people chain to other surfaces where they can

They are good at administrative procedures and processes 📖 📚 ✒️but poor at using a shovel ♠️ .
Too much spent on the former and very little on the later

Request to increase the @eastsussexcc.bsky.social ATE ( Active Travel Score) to 2. However in terms of delivery they think they are only a 1. For cycling ( not walking) most cyclists would score them as 0. (Nobody in UK currently that low)

WATCH THIS: The most amazing thing about this remarkable 2002 car commercial is that it didn’t seem to realize at the time, or perhaps didn’t care, how effectively it made the point that cars and car infrastructure are a HUGE waste of space in cities. Award-winning 2002 ad for Saturn car company.

Good piece of shared path on A271, near Boship roundabout, by @eastsussexcc.bsky.social and @wealdendc.bsky.social BUT it is only a 50m long feeder to a new estate they are building. Nothing before or after and heavy traffic along the whole road

“The NHS and healthcare community should lead in calling for improved transport infrastructure, safer driving behaviours, and normalising active travel. Good public transport and active travel can transform neighbourhoods and promote health” @scarlettmcnally.bsky.social

Now its Autumn some of the tracks on South Downs
@southdownsnp.bsky.social are not as good.
But all year round you can still 🚴🚵‍♀️ in Friston Forest and Abbots Wood ( not quite in National Park) .

The Embankment cycleway (CS3) in London was purposefully built to be wider than was usual in order to future proof it.

Some said it would hardly be used.

Now there’s a decent case for widening it further.

Induced demand is real.

It's been five years since the government opened a consultation on how to tackle pavement parking - and we are STILL waiting for the results. Let us know if pavement parking is an issue in your area 📍 act.livingstreets.org.uk/page/176767/...

The @eastsussexcc.bsky.social approach to stop '🐀 running' in Willingdon alongside the developments at Hindsland ( who paid the S106) & Mornings Mill .
'20's plenty' would have been good but instead a patchwork of build outs that force 🚴 to negotiate space as they move over each time

Why do we need a lot more protected bike-lanes in cities? Because biking in protected #bikelanes poses just 1/10th the risk of biking on major streets with parking. Via @momentummag.bsky.social. Plus they mean a LOT more people choosing biking, which has all sorts of health and cost saving benefits.
Graphic filled with stats on the efficiency of urban biking and how safe it is.

One rumour is, if you support cycling, put up a 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Lots of them around Polegate this weekend 🚲🚴
bespokeeb.bsky.social
Probably not made clear. So where parking is remote, in winter ill lit, and isolated then there is more danger of people stealing the bikes. There would be more witnesses on a busier location

There is extra cycle parking at Airbourne but it is not being used. Possibly because (as permanently at the Harbour) it does not have footfall passing by. However only 250m away the existing parking is packed🔐🔓🚲 ( Saturday lunchtime)

Good fun to watch the Penny farthing time trial this morning from Eastbourne seafront to Beachy Head pub. 41 competitors this year!

We’ve just bought our first e-cargo bike! It’s an ex-Zedify trike. Our glamorous director, Jill, is showing it off. We think it’s the first ever community-owned cargo bike in #Eastbourne. We’ll use it to move donated surplus food to community larders. We’re buying another cargo bike next week!

The problem here is, when they leave it for years.. as they do, the soil and undergrowth also need to be dug off the path not just cut back⛏️🚜✂️
bespokeeb.bsky.social
Problem is due to neglect there will inches of soil, brambles and general undergrowth . More a job for a small digger .⛏️🚜

Reply from @eastsussexcc.bsky.social says "[This] is not considered to be .. causing a safety issue, as such there are no plans to carry out action at this time"
Remember cars park on this narrow space as well.
Just restore it back to the original !! 😡🗯️and read LTN 1/20
bespokeeb.bsky.social
This length of Edward Rd (overgrown for years !!) is very reminiscent of the many years Bespoke spent trying to convince @eastsussexcc.bsky.social that they should restore their shared path to 3m on Lottbridge Drove( LTN 1/20). Here as in the past have to cut it back to show them.
