I was a mere block from today’s shooting in DC when it occurred. The show of force was massive. Of course this is all terrible and the response from the WH, predictable. More troops to DC🤦♀️

I wish I could be more shocked than I already am but I can’t. Of course this nation isn’t celebrating World AIDS Day 2025. We are the laughing stock of the world, this won’t age well, never does when it comes to public health.
Every morning I do the NYT puzzles: all 3 Pips, Wordle, Connections, Strands, and the mini cross word. But, for the life of me I can’t get into or play Spelling Bee or the big crossword. There’s some lesson there.

If a headline sounds dramatic, it’s usually missing context. Ask: “Compared to what?” and “Over what time period?” Boom — you’re starting to doing epidemiology.

As someone who has worked in HIV for 35+ years, I can tell you Carl is a consummate scientific leader. We’ve been lucky to have him at head of DAIDS. The only thing that wins here is the virus.
Unfortunately, I can confirm that this is true.
I have known Carl for 2 decades and he is smart, dedicated, and quite apolitical, focused on science and getting stuff done on important problems.
Huge unnecessary loss of leadership and expertise.

Not that he cares about facts, but 92% of Medicaid recipients are working or fall within an exempt category, and thanks to the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act (🤮), immigrants generally have to wait 5 years to enroll in Medicaid.
