ya think? I don't b/c they keep finding new ways to be WORSE than they were previously. Next week, they'll likely decide to shoot some 10 yo kid who get curious about what all the hullaballoo is about and decides to ride by a protest site on his bike even tho his Mom has warned him to stay away.

They are utterly TERRIFIED of swearing Grijalva in and having her provide the final vote to force the release of the Epstein files. If that were NOT the sole reason for the gov't closure, Johnson would go ahead and swear her in during a pro-forma session, just to take away the talking point. 🙄

I predict he'll sign a single sweeping presidential pardon that gives everyone (unknown John and Jane Does) in the "Trump Administration" who is ever charged any federal crime based on action taken with respect to their positions within his Administration.

Legal? SCOTUS will decide "yes"

Story says this "event" happened at the Orlando Ritz-Carlton. The DC Ritz has nothing to do with the story. Whether the hotel in Ritz in Orlando is posh is pretty much immaterial. And whether the DC Ritz is posh is utterly immaterial.🙄 Focus should be on the behavior of the PERSON involved.

As I recall, the IRS definition of a secondary residence requires the owner personally use it for some portion of the year (I don't recall how much) but that it CAN be rented for part of the year and still NOT be considered investment property. I don't know if IRS definition has any application tho.

SHE probably does. Complete with wardrobe and makeup facilities. But no way she'd let mere ICE agents use HER bathroom. Little doubt she the kind of person who gets incensed if the maid whocome in to clean her house and scrub her toilet happens uses the bathroom while she's cleaning.

ICE's budget is PLENTY large enough for them to drive a motor home with onboard toilet facilities out to every location where they decide to station ICE troops. Or, buy 'em all Depends to wear.

Emergency rooms are going to get a whole lot busier because people without insurance typically simply don't go see a doctor at all UNTIL what would have been a minor health issue if treated on a timely basis BECOMES a life/death emergency.

I don't even look at beef anymore. Other than plain 70/30 hamburger, I know there is no way any cut of beef is gonna fit into my food budget. And the 10 lb chubbs of 70/30 I stock up on once every couple of months have gone up in price by 17.5% since January 2025. ($31.14 in January, $36.58 today)

I had planned to attend the No Kings rally in my small town near Austin on 10/18... b/c a still-healing broken foot makes it hard for me to walk very far. But, If Trump has suggested Bondi interfere with the Austin rally, I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and go to Austin's rally after all.

Sure they do.... but they've redefined reasonable suspicion to now mean non-white plus any three of the following fpir traits:
* overheard speaking any language other than English
* dressed in Walmart-quality clothing
* works at a blue-collar or minimum wage job
* lives in a low-rent neighborhood

Texans are typically incredibly proud of the TX flag which is very easy to duplicate. As a Texan, I suggest Chicagoans make copies of Texas flags to burn and spit on in front of any TX militiamen.
It'll piss em off and not even Trump or Abbott can claim it's a crime for Illinoisians in IL to do it.
