I see this as part of a surprisingly coherent ideology: one that seeks to cut expertise off at the knees in favor of “common sense” solutions that will always favor existing biases.

If we want to stop "teaching" fear of pregnancy, maybe we should start by making pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood safer. And maybe we should do something about the fact that homicide is the most common cause of death among women who are pregnant or have recently given birth.
