And we know that the Kia PV5 is apparently going to be sold as a Chevy, which only makes sense if it's built here, so likely in GM's plant. So I wouldn't be surprised if GM scrapped its own Bolt replacement for something shared with Kia.

US-spec EV3 prototypes are still being spotted, so it's definitely not off the table.

Wild speculation: what if the Bolt replacement ends up being a reworked EV3 built at GM's soon-to-be upgraded EV plant alongside the Kia version?
bgluckman.bsky.social
Kia says it's not! But they also haven't given any firm details, either.
bgluckman.bsky.social
Or EV4. Or IONIQ 3, for that matter.
bgluckman.bsky.social
But it's also probably back because a lot of leased Bolts are coming up on trade-in next year, and without an offering, those owners will likely decamp to Kia showrooms (assuming the EV3 actually happens).

You know what? If you drive the honeydew of EVs, you deserve to spend two minutes of every single drive staring at Jared Leto's blank expression as he stalks his way around a sequel absolutely nobody asked for.

I've been wondering if a confluence of factors -- the tariffs, the partnership agreement with Hyundai -- may have caused GM to shift its strategy and that might be why the replacement is delayed with an uncertain timeline.

But still, guys, c'mon.

My gut feeling is that the Bolt will get replaced with a new EV at the same price point that may be a somewhat more crossover-esque bodystyle. Why announce it this way? Why kill the Bolt nameplate? I don't know. I am tired.

I really need to get to their DC showroom sometime.

You can store a bag under the seat in front of you in the exit row in the US, however, except for certain very specific plane configurations where there's no underseat storage.

The nativist right keeps talking about “heritage Americans.” It's a buzzword engineered to move the goalposts on immigration even further, argues @alibreland.bsky.social. https://theatln.tc/bLRZoopN

Now spending time up-county, I'm seeing how much sprawl is happening north of Olney and Gaithersburg, all of it car-oriented. It's nuts.

And I will never let this issue go by without mentioning that one of the biggest opponents to this kind of sensible reform is consumer advocate turned racist NIMBY Ralph Nader, who is still fucking things up in the DMV at the age of 91.

It's incredibly unfortunate that Montgomery County, Maryland, hasn't gotten the memo.

I think it's in part because some MoCo towns -- Rockville particularly -- are so enormous but yeah so non-dense it's easy to disassociate yourself from actually living there.

The other challenge is dumping these Teslas into Uber fleets does absolutely nothing to help them compete on lease rates with Hyundai, Kia and Chevrolet.
bgluckman.bsky.social
Well, Uber has been still taking them, but drivers have been avoiding them, because they get riders (including me) who won't tip.

To make a base model Chevette as cheap as possible, GM cut things like rear roll-down windows, struts for the hatch, and any sort of standard radio.

Meet the new Tesla Y Scooter.
bgluckman.bsky.social
Alt take: these are the versions Elon will be ginning up en masse to dump into Uber fleets.

I've also heard Escort Pony, Sundance America, and my favorite -- Chevette Scooter! -- so that tracks.
bgluckman.bsky.social
This both looks bad, and also, I do not understand how this saves money?

Why on earth would you buy this over the cheaper, better Hyundai IONIQ 5 SEL?
