I bet. I would have been, too. I learned a long time ago that cars are bigger than me, and they hurt.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm damn tired of shedding tears because of people in cars.

I understand why people flee after a crash. But I will never understand how someone could do it. So if you've ever fled after a serious crash, please email me anonymously to explain how you justified it, and feel about it now. You'll find my email here. bikinginla.com/about/

So, my favorite place to ride finally reopened last month.

Join me on a trip to Monrovia Canyon Park. It has been closed for years due to fire and flooding damage.

It will be interesting to see how it looks.

I'm just gutted. I just learned that a friend of ours was seriously injured, and her corgi murdered, by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday. He was the sweetest boy, and one of our corgi's best friends. At least the damn driver turned herself in. www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/h...

But if I don't do this, who would? It's crappy, heartbreaking work. We'd be back to the old days when bicycling deaths were just swept under the rug, and no one really knew what was going on out there. But maybe we'd all be better off. Or happier, anyway.

I started writing about SoCal bicycling deaths because someone had to do it. And I couldn't ask someone else to do something I wouldn't do myself.

Writing about all these people killed just because they rode a bicycle is really hurting my heart, more than ever before. I don't know how long I can keep doing this.

I drove errands this afternoon and want to share some observations about motorist & bicycle user behavior.
The Good:
The kids are mostly doing what we taught them. Riding in compact packets of 2-3 abreast. Waiting at stop signs and moving the whole packet through together instead of one at a time

The problem is our president gets his daily intelligence briefing from Fox News and Newmax, which lack it.
