#SisuRoadToRevenge repeats the original & adds “bigger budget” spices in the form of Stephen Lang & even more outrageously cartoonish kills. Jalmari Helander leans into the myth-making of Aatami, and the revenge plot, tho standard, packs a more satisfying punch than the first.

Tim Burton's 'Sleepy Hollow' was released on this day in 1999. @billbria.bsky.social praises its distinct style: crookedmarquee.com/sleepy-hollo...
Sleepy Hollow and the Rise of Gothic Noir

I’d say to follow BJ but I can’t even get massive numbers of folks to follow me, so now who’s pathetic and embarrassing lol
Hey, do 3,419 of you want to follow me on IG? Apparently, I'll get more opportunities (Or something?) if I crack the magical 10k, and that's the only platform where I haven't.

lmao this is so pathetic and embarrassing.

#Keeper is Oz Perkins’ POSSESSION. Also ROSEMARY’S BABY, also THE CALLER, also SILENT HILL…you get the idea. My full review of this layer cake of a movie for @slashfilm.bsky.social :

#RunningManMovie is like a man seething with anger finally mustering the courage to speak up: it’s uneven & all over the place (literally, in its country-hopping structure). Yet it’s also filled with such passion & righteous indignation that its vibrancy won me over.

The recently departed Italian composer’s early and iconic work with director Sergio Leone remains a marvel of instrumental ingenuity – and thematic unity.

There was a livestream for DIE MY LOVE with a Q&A at AMC tonight, completely sold out for days. Folks showed up super late, missed a lot of the movie, and then half of them audibly groaned when they realized J. Law wasn’t actually gonna be there in person, and left. Embarrassing!

#Pluribus is easily the best new TV series of the year. Vince Gilligan slides back into X-FILES mode, bringing along BREAKING BAD’s verve and his irreverent satire. Rhea Seehorn creates a totally unique antiheroine: a mix of righteous, messy humanity and ugliness. It’s brilliant.

#Eternity is amazing. A 21st century Old Hollywood melodrama, David Freyne's film is Capra by way of John Patrick Shanley, with dashes of Powell & Pressburger, Kaufman/Gondry & Gilliam. Olsen, Teller, & Turner are quirky & touching in equal measure. My favorite surprise of 2025!

#IsThisThingOn continues Bradley Cooper’s earnest look at finding catharsis through performance through the lens of a crumbling marriage where the dead ends & new beginnings start to blur together. Arnett & Dern help make it all attractively real, refreshingly averting cliches.

Dan Trachtenberg ingeniously subverts the series yet again with #PredatorBadlands, doing for the Yautja what T2 did for the T-800. Elle Fanning is a delight in her dual role, Jeff Cutter makes Genna look as deadly gorgeous as Pandora, all within a killer action/adventure film.

#InYourDreams does something a lot of recent family films hope to do but fail at: recapturing that magic feeling of the heartwarming, thoughtful, and a little bit edgy animated movies of all our childhoods. Consistently inventive, frequently funny, impressively mature!
