Fog in California
A thick bank of fog blankets California’s Central Valley. The fog is bracketed by the Cascades to the North, the Coastal Range to the West and the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the East. These h...

In response to questions about how meaningful a wet start (ggweather.com/seasonal_rai...) is to the entire rainy season, I looked at the correlations between the Jul-Nov rainfall to the final Jul-Jun totals. There are some huge differences.

There are more reporting surface weather stations in the country of Germany than across all of Africa, leaving many African communities without accurate forecasts.

Building Better Weather Networks - Eos
A lack of weather data often leaves African communities vulnerable. Convergent efforts to improve observational networks throughout the continent are slowly filling the gaps.

Wish Contra Costa County would add a rain gauge in the area between Berkeley and Richmond. Unofficially we got 1.09" from this nice storm over the weekend

Highly recommend this article by @gporterwx.bsky.social f/ @ggweather.bsky.social and others describing the influence of El Niño / La Niña events on CA weather and other factors that can override the “El Nino wet, La Niña dry” common in public understanding.

California’s rule book on El Niño and La Niña is broken
La Niña is back, but week-to-week jet-stream chaos really decide whether California floods or stays dry.

I am happy to report that California installed a new flux tower in the redwood forests led by @chuhousen.bsky.social Kosana at UC Davis and others
CA Gov himself reporting news he climbed the 325-meter tower(ATTO) in the middle of the Amazon rainforest! Note the Gov said the 'data is shared with Americans', which is part of FluxNet efforts? @ameriflux.bsky.social @fluxnet.bsky.social @biometlab.bsky.social @fluxnetecn.bsky.social
This 15-story data tower in the heart of the Amazon collects vital climate data that is shared with Americans in California and across the country.

The Trump Administration can ignore reality and worsen the climate crisis, but California will never stop fighting for our future.

The Trump administration is set to impose duties of 107% on Italian pasta imports, among most punitive of the tariffs it has levied.

While eating homemade apricot jam this am, i was curious if harvest is getting earlier. In the 60s we picked between Jun 20 & July 4. This year we bought them in late May; but may be an early varietal. Found this gem on Brentwood Blenheims from the 30s
