@jodyallair.bsky.social and I just returned from leading one of our most memorable pelagic boat trips ever for Eagle-Eye Tours, out of Tofino, BC. The Laysan Albatross stole the show and hung around so long that we literally had to tear ourselves away from it! #birds #pelagic #albatross #seabirds

Update: It's on Letterboxd now! (And still free to watch on YouTube)
My favorite movie of 2025. 🎬 🎥 🪶
Listers is hilarious and does a great job of showing why birding is so much fun. Long-time birders will see a lot of familiar faces and places!
My only complaint is that I can't find it on Letterboxd yet

Tomorrow is #OctoberBigDay! The simple act of volunteer scientists birding and submitting their lists to eBird all at the same time, produces a powerful dataset that helps us learn about bird migration timing and more! Here's a late migrating Oct #NorthernYellowWarbler that is heading to C. America.

Incredible footage of one of the coolest birds out there! Now I really HAVE to see one. Thanks @saskajanet.bsky.social for sharing!
This short documentary, “L'Oiseau Papillon" by Frank Neveu looks interesting based on the trailer. Three years of work to gather the footage! It’s available from Salamadre.tv (subscription) www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_Rh...

One of my wanted birds!
Meet the Wallcreeper!🧱🐦

From the Alps to the Himalayas, this mountain-dwelling bird is renowned for its skilled climbing of rock faces.🏔️

Within crevices, they build a nest from moss and grass ready for the female to lay 3-5 eggs.

Not sure what you're up to, but there are currently thousands of shorebirds moving south through the #pacificnorthwest at the moment. These first cycle Western (L) and Semipalmated (R) sandpipers wanted to demonstrate how bill length can help tell them apart. #birds #birdphotography #migration

A wonderfully illustrated writeup about exploring southern #Saskatchewan and the work @birdscanada.bsky.social is doing alongside partners and ranchers to protect the remaining grasslands habitat. If only more people knew how precious and fragile this part of the country really is!

Meet the American Goldfinch!

These small songbirds are as fascinating as they are eye-catching. With strong feet and unusually short legs, they can balance with ease on the tips of flower heads while feeding on seeds, or gathering plant down to line their nests.

Have you spotted one this season?
