I spent a holiday in Taiwan in early 2024. Some friends asked why.

For starters, the island is beautiful, the food is fantastic and the Canadian dollar goes a long way.

But I also wanted to spend my tourist dollars in a democracy that thumbs its nose at an aggressive neighbour.
