"Like I want what?" Jungkook asks, bringing his free hand up to cup Taehyung's jaw, refusing to let him look away again.
Instead, Taehyung closes his eyes. "Like you want to kiss me."
"I didn't know I ever looked at you any other way."
Taehyung's eyes snap back open, his mind replaying every moment that he suspected as much, but reminded himself that Jungkook probably wasn't interested in him that way. Every time his eyes darted away when Taehyung looked up at him, every inch of space between them that slowly vanished like magic when they lay together on Jungkook's blanket. Every cup of tea that Jungkook brought him on chilly days, every gentle touch to guide him past puddles or sticks on the sidewalk.

Maybe Yoongi feels the same way about the living mourners as Taehyung feels about the dead; perhaps they're two sides of the same tarnished coin.

With Yoongi's voice in his head, he ultimately decides to settle back under the tree for the rest of his lunch, flicking through the pages of his book absently. He's never entirely sure he understands poetry, especially since he didn't care much to listen when they learned about it in school. He just knows that sometimes, a piece will resonate with him, even if there are hundreds of others that don't. And that if he had a tombstone, he'd want to feel the reverberations of words that meant something down through the soil and into his bones.
