I think the dumbest thing about voiceover, in my opinion, is the existence of pay to play sites. Pay a couple hundred dollars for your *chance* to find work. Shell out money to source auditions for paid works. It’s like having an HOA at your job.

I really didn't want to double down a lot, but in the case of Street Fighter, it could've been a triple down because I love T. Hawk and Hakan as well. I forced myself to pick just Hugo. Same with Smash. I could've chosen Pac-Man, Wario, and Banjo all the same.

Aside from Battle for the Grid and Skull Girls, I've not played many indie fighters yet, sadly. I'm usually playing what my friends are playing. So I made it an underrated gem category because lord knows there's a TON of underrated fighting games.

I saw this on LinkedIn but somehow missed it here. Y’all help a buddy out. There are so many scams in the VO field that avoiding them can be like walking through a minefield, and the scammers get smarter and smarter with each avoidance.

Side note, ignore my crybaby behavior. I’m just feeling it with the LinkedIn situation coming directly after the hellsite having flagged me as spam basically making it impossible for me to inquire about work there too. It feels like spinning the wheels and going nowhere, and I just needed to vent.

Battling the “I should give up.” thoughts every few months is for the birds, but damn if I’m not getting stomped out every time I try to make a more proactive push to making this a livable career. Like at least minimum wage in voiceover. I’ll be satisfied.

The high of being cast in two separate projects in about the same month is wearing off. The reality that I’m looking at potentially another year of VO drought is setting in. I started yet ANOTHER LinkedIn to TRY to push my VO for commercial purposes, but who knows if I’ll get got again.

Seven days of still being locked out of my account waiting for them to verify me with no way of contacting their support or removing my billing information from their site. I know the account is active because I still receive notifications.

The more I sit and think on this the crazier it is actually. If your account got hacked, and they changed the login info, you just couldn't get your account back because you can't use their support without being logged in. Absolutely baffling.

Man. I had one of my molars basically explode a couple years ago eating a sweet treat. I’m big on taking care of my teeth but haven’t been to a dentist since third grade. Now I absolutely have to get this thing and a wisdom tooth on the other side out. I def need some voice work so I can fix this.

It’s okay to feel like you missed out. It’s okay to be upset that you just aren’t landing roles. It’s not okay to let yourself become bitter to your peers. They had to work hard to get to a place where they’re finding work. Some get there faster, but you don’t get anywhere without taking some lumps.

In a lot of cases, it’s absolutely right. If a project starts small, but recognizable names appear, you’re getting shafted because recognition sells. That’s okay. Grit your teeth and get to work. You make your name through marketing yourself. Accept it, don’t let it make you bitter. Grow your name.

Something disheartening about voiceover starting out is that any channel telling you how to start talks about how competition heavy everything is. They really drill that in, and it can make you look at your favorite indie VAs as competition that you’ll never stand a chance against if you’re new.

I need to audition more. I’ve got so many things I need to make money for, and haven’t auditioned for anything in some time. I need a tooth pulled. Probably two because my wisdom teeth finally decided to say hi. I need a dermatologist for my leg. I need to upgrade all my equipment. Life so pricey 😩
