I just can not be convinced that the Saturday morning cartoon look of Serious Sam 2 and Next Encounter are worse than the more realistic look of the modern games. We need more games with that cartoon vibe. I miss the Blastos of the gaming landscape.

If and when we get a new Serious Sam, I would love to see a return to the more cartoon stylized look. Make it prettier than the old games, naturally, but the goofy, wide jawed look to Sam, and the bright, colorful environments will always win me over compared to uncanny realism.

It’ll never not be funny to me how some of the most beautiful songs were written by two people that just hate each other so much.

I still think about this series often. I hate that I missed out on Omega Strain’s coop. Apparently it’s still possible to play, but I never quite figured it out.

Gears Delta reopened registration, and man it feels so good to be reliving childhood with a bustling community again. Dad and I loved playing Gears of War together. He'd be thrilled to see the fan revival

Lei Wulong has everything I could want in a character. He's a walking mixup, has a ton of stances, is a huge homage to some of Jackie Chan's best martial arts movies, and just makes for really funny, goofy situations.

Nightwolf from MK11 had an amazing design. While I didn't care for MK11 as a whole, this redesign was so cool, and making him a pseudo-grappler was icing on the cake for me. Between him, Robocop, Rain, and Shang Tsung, I was eating good for roster choices. There's no topping this appearance for him.

Number two has to be T. Hawk. Slam dunking people by the face never gets old. Street Fighter has some of my favorite grapplers in fighting games, but T. Hawk and Hugo gotta be tied for number one for me.

Starting off with the first one, and I'm gonna go ahead and say that you're gonna see a trend here if more likes show up. Garuda absolutely slaps

I don't know of any other game that gives me the same feeling that DayZ does during player vs. player interactions. I know the type of community this game typically brings in, but man I really enjoy the social interactions because I feel like I never have the same journey per life.

I think Recore has a Mega Man Legends vibe to it, and deserves more love than it got. Is it a perfect game? Nah. But was it something nice from a new company whose only other published title was a flop from a washed up has been? Yes.
January 22, 2026 at 12:42 AM
It’s far from perfect. Some wouldn’t even say it was good. But as one of very few online coop stealth experiences, I love this game with my heart and soul.

I can give this a go again

I know absolutely nothing about Mr. Mega Man, but I would happily do a Manga dub of this with other VAs. I’d love to voice this specific Mega Man. Look at how polite he looks.

It really is infinitely funny to me how the bullet shifts from travelling downward at an acute angle with the ground to perfectly parallel to the ground for the actual hit. It's very bizarre. Compare it to Sniper Elite where you can see the hit from the exact angle, plus the gory details involved.

I still need to play Sniper Contracts 2, but I really enjoyed the first game. The stealth genre is my favorite, and it's been cool to see Sniper Elite branch itself out from just its name. It'd be neat to see the Ghost Warrior series do the same with its first-person perspective. Also add coop.
January 18, 2026 at 2:25 AM
I'd chalk it up to age of release if maybe Sniper Elite hadn't been doing this exact system better for a long while now. The X-Ray system was implemented in 2012. I know it's different companies, but still. I've always felt that Ghost Warrior was weaker as a series until Contracts released.
January 18, 2026 at 2:25 AM
With Sniper Elite, you get some crazy visceral X-rays which I knew were missing from Ghost Warrior, so I didn't hold that against it, but like... the bullet tracking is so weird. In Elite, you watch the bullet travel from your gun to the target at the angle fired up until entrance and exit
January 18, 2026 at 2:25 AM
I've talked in detail about how much I love Sniper Elite because it's so much more than a sniper game. It's the closest we have to a modern Splinter Cell with creative approaches to problems. With that in mind, I decided to try Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, and man... This feels so cheap in a way.
January 18, 2026 at 2:25 AM
I’ll never stop wondering just how a game studio came to the idea of “Splinter Cell but with Vampires.” but I’ll forever love this stupid, awful game. Worst game of the year 2007, babyyyyy!

Today’s QUESTION OF THE DAY is a video game one.

What four classic video games to you find yourself replaying no matter how old they are?

These are mine:

(I could easily swap DW4 with Tenchu 3, but let’s give DW a moment to shine)

It’s my birthday. Today I awoke to a sound all too familiar to everyone that has turned thirty before me. At the strike of midnight, both of my knees unleashed an ear shattering pop. Beware all ye 29 year olds. The pop is coming for you too. No one can escape it

Somehow I had no idea a third Styx game was in the works. If you're a fan of stealth games, do yourself a favor and grab the first two before Blades of Greed drops. They go on sale for like three or four bucks all the time, and are wonderful, challenging stealth titles about a wise-cracking goblin.
