Thinking out loud here, I wonder if there's a path to #NYR trading for Shane Wright to try to recapture the magic he and Brennan Othmann had for Team Canada.
I only think this happens if the market for Othmann isn't much beyond a sweetener in a bigger trade.

The best GMs in the NHL attack when perceived value is higher than actual on-ice value. That's what #NYR have a chance to do with Braden Schneider.
When perceived value is lower than actual value, you hold onto the player (Lafreniere) unless blown away w/offer.
Hopefully Drury recognizes this.

This cements Samuel Girard as their 3LD at $5 million for this year and next. If the Avs are in on Panarin, I imagine Girard comes the over way. #NYR
Sam Malinksi (4x4.75m extension with Colorado) is a decent transition defender with a good shot.

Worth noting that Carson Soucy recently welcomed his third child. The trade to the Isles was likely coordinated so he didn't have to go far.
